The quality of an advertisement, programme and news presentation portrays the integrity of the presenter and the station.

The Zonal Director, National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Mr. Raphael Akpan stated this in Ibadan during the weekly meeting of the Programmes Department of Radio Nigeria, Ibadan National Station held at the Studio One, Broadcasting House, Oba Adebimpe Road, Dugbe, Ibadan.

Mr. Akpan noted that programmes staff should be accurate and objective in their production as it says a lot about the standard of the station.

The acting Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi, advised the staff to be mindful of what they produce and package.

Mrs. Owoyemi said the broadcasters should design programmes that would be a standard for all Radio Nigeria stations.

In the same vein, the Deputy Director Programmes, Mrs. Bolatito Joseph said broadcasting was not child’s play as it was mandatory for the broadcasters to uplift the standard of the station.

Mrs. Joseph then appreciated the NBC Zonal Director for the lecture and the Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi for her support.

The mood of celebration was evident as management and staff, as well as people from all walks of life, converged on the premises of Radio Nigeria’s Premier FM 93.5 Ibadan to mark the 20th anniversary of the station.

Right from the entrance of the station one could tell that something historic was taking place from the Calibre of dignitaries who were trooping in to the purple and gold atmosphere that depicted the identity of the station.

Premier fm93.5 was inaugurated on the 31st of october, 2001 by former first lady, the late chief Stella Obasajo.

General Manager of the station Alhaji Bashir omotosho took people in attendance down memory lane.

In her opening speech,Zonal director Radio Nigeria , Ibadan National station, Mrs, Bolanle Owoyemi said Premier FM had over the years show cased profeionalism worthy of celebration.

Delivering a lecture titled Broadcasting yesterday,today and tomorrow how it has impacted the prevailing challenges, Veteran broadcaster, Mr Yanju Adegbite who opined that training and retraing were indispensable ingredients in broadcasting industry, acknowledged that premier fm had remained a platform for producing talented broadcasters.

Mr Adegbite urged the national broadcasting commission, NBC, to redouble their efforts at regulating the industry eating in mind the proliferation of fm stations across the country.

The anniversary also provided the opportunity to recognize individuals who had distinguished themselves on their various endeavour.

Chairman on the occasion, who also bagged an award for his philanthropic nature, Dr Fola Akinosun, implored the management and staff of premier fm to maintain it’s leadership status in the broadcast industry.

Other awardees included, Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Saliu Adetunji, Seriki Fulani of Oyo state, Alhaji Yakubu Bello, Founder, Ewa Islam foundation, Alhaji Ismail oluwakani-Akewukewe, Evangelist kikelomo Alli, Founder Alpha photos, Mr Alfred Fadugba, Chairman, Independent petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria Oyo-Osun branch, Alhaji Mutiu Bukola and Prince Sola Adekoya.

The celebration also featured cultural display and cutting of the anniversary cake.

Notable Nigerians have been urged to support government in bringing development to the nation through donation of infrastructural works and extending arms of help to the less-privileged.

A philanthropist and Mogaji Bada, Akinsanya, Akinole, Ode Aje areas of Ibadan, Chief Adetoyese Adekola who made the remark while featuring on a monthly programme of Radio Nigeria Ibadan tagged “Eni Ayesi”, said if other philanthropists support the government, it would contribute immensely to the development of rural areas.

Mogaji Adekola who received an award for outstanding contributions from the management of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan National Station, for his contribution towards the development of rural communities, advised Amuludun FM to continue uniting Nigerians especially at this moment when the country is faced with different challenges threatening its unity.

Earlier, Acting Zonal Director FRCN, Ibadan National Station, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi who was represented by Assistant Director Marketing, Mr. Adewale Afinjuomo thanked the awardee for honoring the invitation.

Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of award to the awardee by Mr. Afinjuomo on behalf of the management of FRCN, Ibadan National Station.

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, is attaching importance to mentorship and in-house training to boost the capacity of staff for effective performance.

The Deputy Director News and Current Affairs, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Elder Adenrele Ajisefini, stated this in Abeokuta, Ogun State at the opening of training for translators and other members of staff of Radio Nigeria, Paramount FM.

Opening his keynote address with a message from the Acting Zonal Director, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi, Elder Ajisefini charged the personnel to shun indiscipline and deploy their professional skills towards meeting the information needs of the public and boosting the corporation’s Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.

The Deputy Director News expressed the hope that participants in the training would be empowered to gain more grounds in the profession and add value to the listeners.

Declaring the training session open, the General Manager of Paramount FM, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle, who commended the FRCN Management for the gesture, urged the corporation to sustain the efforts to improve staff productivity. In separate remarks, Head of News, Mrs. Oluremi Olugbenro and the Head of Programmes, Mr. Dapo Oyekanmi encouraged participants to make good use of the training to learn, unlearn and relearn new ideas.

The training programme is expected to be rounded off on Friday.

A media expert, Mr. Eniola Mark Omoluwabi wants media owners in the country to enhance the welfare of their workers.

Mr. Omoluwabi made the call today in Moniya, Ibadan while featuring on a monthly programme of Radio Nigeria Ibadan entitled “Eni Ayesi”.

According to him, the welfare of workers working in media organization should be a top priority of the media owners.

Mr. Omoluwabi, however advised media workers to always abide by the ethics of journalism.

The Federal Fire Service, Oyo State has said enhancing safety of lives and property in the state remains its priority.

The new Oyo State commander, Deputy Controller Augustine Adetunji made this known during a courtesy visit to Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, at the Broadcasting House, Oba Adebimpe Road, Ibadan.

Mr. Adetunji said the federal government had expanded the fire service in Nigeria to cope with fire prevention.

The Deputy Controller sought the collaboration of FRCN Ibadan on creating awareness on fire prevention in the South-West.

In a remark, the Acting Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi, said the corporation was ready to support the fire services in its drive to prevent fire outbreak or disaster in the state.

Mrs. Owoyemi added the corporation would also continue to enlighten the public on the dangers fire outbreak posed to safety of lives and property.

It was a joyous occasion as members of Radio Nigeria Ibadan Unity Multipurpose Society gathered at Studio One, Broadcasting House, Oba Adebimpe Way, Dugbe in Ibadan to celebrate their first Annual General Meeting, AGM.

Our correspondent reports that the event was an all-white affair.

Addressing members of the society, the Acting Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi said it was high time civil and public servants stopped waiting for their retirement benefits alone but utilize the cooperative societies for their economic advancement.

Mrs. Owoyemi urged them to be prudent in spending by not buying unnecessary things.

President of the society, Mrs Olutola Daramola who could not hide her joy urged the members to continue to allow unity to reign in order to move the society to greater heights.

Highlight of the event was the sharing of dividends and gifts to members of the society.

The Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria, APBN, has called on the government to employ their expertise in the planning process to ensure smooth delivery of public programmes and projects.

The association made the call during a courtesy call on the Management of Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station.

Speaking through the Chairman, APBN, Oyo State Branch, Mr. Kola Lawal, the involvement of professionals in government planning would enhance the quality of public projects.

Mr. Lawal who lauded Radio Nigeria’s programme “Housing and You” for its impact in the building sector solicited partnership with the corporation to project the mandate of APBN.

Responding, Acting Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi, urged the visiting professional bodies to provide apt information and sensitization to the public on trending issues, especially Covid-19 vaccination.

Mrs. Owoyemi who expressed the corporation’s readiness to partner the APBN, Oyo State Branch, urged them to leverage on the strength of their expertise to rescue the people from quacks.
