Eschew bitterness but work in one accord to consolidate on the development being recorded in the land through unity.

This was the advice of Owa Obokun , Oba Adekunle Aromolaran to politicians of Ijesa extraction.

He gave the advice during a peace meeting with leaders of APC and PDP in his palace.

The paramount ruler of Ijesaland called the peace meeting following the interparty melee that characterized the distribution of Permanent Voter’s card by INEC in Ilesa West Local Government Area on Thursday which left behind a tale of horror.

A leader of People’s Democratic party , Mr Ibukun Fadipe aka IBK blamed loyalists of the rulling party for the crisis who tore the posters of his party’s governorship candidate.

Countering his claim, the commissioner for works in the state, Mr Oluremi Omowaye said the problem started when a member of the opposition party allegedly shot at the convoy of the state governor at Ikoyi axis of the Local Government Area.

Holding leadership of both parties in Ilesa west responsible for the dastardly act, a former commissioner on the platform of PDP in the state, Alhaji Jide Bakare , urged the Owa Obokun to let the leaders swear to an oath before the powers within the palace.

Contributing, the member of house of representatives, representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency, Chief Babatunde Ayeni condemned the disruption of the peaceful electoral exercise by the political thugs , stressing that henceforth , anyone caught disturbing the electioneering should be punished with himself inclusive.

In his appreciation on behalf of both parties, the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Timothy Owoeye pleaded with the concerned people to see one another as heirs of the same father and not to allow politics tear them apart.

An Osun State Magistrate court sitting in Ilesa, has remanded three suspects in police custody for allegedly stealing transformer cables valued at seven hundred thousand naira  at the palace of the  Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran.

The alleged suspects, Owolabi Abimbola (33), Sulaiman Mutiu (25), Samson Oluwafemi (25), and others now at large are  facing four-count charges on the committed offence.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Adigun Kehinde  said the stolen transformer cables were the property of IBEDC Ilesa branch stolen at the Owa’s palace on May 11, 2022.

He argued that the offense contravened the state Criminal Code.

However, the suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, A.O Awodele fixed tomorrow for  further hearing on the case and ordered that the defendants should be kept in Police custody.

Osun State Government has described the death of the wives of Owa-Obokun of Ijeshaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, and Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin II, as a colossal loss to Ijeshaland and Ejigbo respectively.

In a condolence statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, Osun government commiserated with the traditional rulers, the children and the entire members of the two royal families, praying God to grant them the fortitude to bear the losses.

Osun government described Olori Olanike Aromolaran and Olori Ruth Anike Oyeyode as strong pillars and support system to the reigns of Owa-Obokun and the Ogiyan respectively.

“The Government of State of Osun commiserates with the Owa-Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, and the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin II over the passage of Olori Olanike Aromolaran and Olori Ruth Anike Oyeyode.

“We commiserate with the royal families and the entirety of Ijeshaland and Ejigbo on the death of the two matriarchs who now have joined their forebears, and pray God’s comfort and peace for our Kabiyesi, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran and Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin II”, the statement reads in part.

The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran wants traditional rulers in Ijesaland to key into the development efforts being championed by some Ijesa sons and daughters all over the world.

Oba Adekunle Aromolaran stated this while receiving the new Owaloko of Iloko Ijesa, Oba Hakeem Ogungbamgbe in his palace.

The  paramount ruler of Ijesaland who expressed happiness with the speed of development in his domain within the space of two years, described the ongoing 550 million naira Geriatrics Centre project at the multipurpose complex of Wesley Guild Hospital, enu Odi Ijebujesa as a product of unity.

Oba Adekunle Aromolaran advised the Owaloko to be wary of rumour and always gun for the the truth in every matter presented, before him, praying God to guide him aright in taking decisions on issues bothering on collective interest.

In a remark, the Owaloko, Oba Ogungbamigbe noted that the disposition of the Owa Obokun during the visit showed that he is an embodiment of wisdom and knowledge who did nothing under pretence.

Oba Ogungbamgbe called on traditional rulers in Ijesaland to support the Owa Obokun to further make Ijesaland great in the universe.

Highlight of the visit was a royal blessing by the Owa Obokun.
