The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Ogunlowo has confirmed the abduction of six real estate marketers at Oyebola Village in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the incident in Abeokuta, Mr Ogunlowo said the victims, who are employees of a Lagos-based real estate firm, were abducted on Friday while inspecting their company’s land in the area.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police stressed that the command had since launched a rescue operation and was committed to securing their safe return.

The Ogun State Police Command says it has recorded a noticeable decline in crime rate in the first quarter of 2025 with 2,141 suspects arrested for various crimes, including robbery, kidnapping, rape, and cultism. 

The command also noted that 1,530 suspects were prosecuted between January and March 2025.

This was contained in a statement release by the Police Public relations officer, Mrs Omolola Odutola in Abeokuta for the command’s first quarter review, between January and March, 2025.

The command’s spokesperson attributed the success to the direct interface with citizens and community engagement, which helped bridge the communication gap between the police and the public.

While expressing gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for the technical and logistical support as well as the cooperation of the people of the state, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Ogunlowo reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining its partnership with citizens to ensure the safety and security.

Mr Ogunlowo then appealed to parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their wards, especially with regards to cult related activities.

Youths of Itori in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State have burnt five vehicles over the killing of a motorcyclist by a suspected smuggler.

The youths were reported to have gone on a rampage on the suspicion that the accident was caused by a Customs team stationed in the town.

Five vehicles parked in front of the hotel where the customs were reportedly lodging were burnt.

Witnesses said the timely arrival of Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole with his team saved the hotel from also being burnt.

A report had it that the suspected smuggler was trying to escape from the operatives of the Nigeria Customs, Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘A’, Lagos, operating along the road when the motorcyclist was hit and died on the spot.

The Public Relations Officer, PRO, Customs FOU Zone “A” Command, Mr Theophilus Duniya, while responding to the incident said, the officers who were stationed some meters from the scene of the accident did not pursue the vehicle that killed the motorcyclist.

The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi also confirmed the incident.

Ogun State Police Command has arrested two Lagos-based armed robbery suspects, Kenneth Akpa and Adebayo Michael.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects were arrested on information that a suspected stolen Toyota Corolla 2008 model was sighted at a mechanic workshop along Ogere/Iperu road where the suspected robbers were fixing the car. 

He said the two suspects were arrested and the vehicle with registration number MUS 599 GV was recovered while the owner of the car, one Mr James Ushahemba, a resident of Ahoyaya in Lagos was contacted and showed up at Iperu for identification.

The car owner explained that he was attacked in his home by the two armed men who robbed him of his Toyota Corolla car, three phones and cash of thirty thousand naira at gunpoint. 

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole has directed that preliminary investigation should be conducted in Abeokuta while the case should be forwarded to Lagos State Command where the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has directed the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Bankole to immediately redeploy the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Lafenwa in Abeokuta for aiding and abetting crimes in the area, especially inside Lafenwa Market and its environs.

Governor Abiodun who gave the directive during an on-the-spot assessment of the scene of the fire incident in Lanfewa also ordered the arrest of all miscreants involved in setting on fire on a petrol-laden tanker that led to the explosion.

The governor explained that there were a lot of reports against the DPO, stating that he was neither effective nor efficient in carrying out his statutory duties of maintaining law and order in the area.

Governor Abiodun who called for a full investigation said that both Federal and State Fire trucks were also damaged by the hoodlums who prevented fire trucks and men of Transport Enforcement and Compliance Agency from sealing off the area and protecting the tanker.

While describing the loss of lives as unfortunate, Governor Abiodun directed the Ogun State Commissioner for Special Duties to take inventory of all goods lost, promising to provide palliatives for the victims.

Responding, the Babaloja of Lafenwa Market, Alhaji Musa Adeyinka, recounted the loss during the incident and thanked the governor for sympathizing with the traders.

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested five members of a kidnap syndicate terrorizing Obada-Oko and its environs.

A statement by the spokesman of the command, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspects, Aliu Manya, Usman Abubakar, Abayomi Olayiwola, Nasiru Muhammad and Bello Usman were arrested on two motorcycles in a forest at Eleja Area of Obada-Oko at night. 

Mr. Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested with the support of the So Safe Corps, hunters and the local vigilante team.

The Ogun Police Command spokesman said exhibits recovered from the suspects include illicit drugs like tramadol and Indian hemp, three cutlasses, and two motorcycles as well cash sum of seventy-three thousand naira. 

Mr. Oyeyemi also hinted that a kidnap victim had identified the suspects as those that kidnapped him while two receivers of the ransom had also been identified amongst the suspects.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for investigation and gave directive concerning the hunt for other members of the syndicate.

Police in Ogun State has arrested a twenty-four-year-old man, Mojiyagbe Olamilekan for stabbing his wife to death with scissors. 

According to a statement by the Ogun State Police Command spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was arrested following a distress call that the suspect had locked up himself and his wife, one Seun Mojiyagbe in their room, and started beating the wife.

The police said the wailing of the wife attracted neighbours and who all tried to persuade the suspect to open the door but refused.

Mr. Oyeyemi said the police forced the door to the apartment of the couple opened and met the wife unconscious in the pool of blood before she was pronounced dead by the doctor after she was rushed to the hospital.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Bankole has since ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation and prosecution.

Five suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly conniving to abduct an eight year old boy, Sadiq Abass.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement issued in Abeokuta.

Mr. Oyeyemi explained that the five suspects were arrested after the father of the victim, Riliwan Mohammed had reported the disappearance of the boy at Ogere Divisional Headquarters.

The command’s spokesman said the man told the policemen that he received a phone call from a strange number that his 8-year-old son had been abducted, noting that a ransom of three point five million naira was demanded before he would be released.

Mr. Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested at their hideout where the victim was rescued unhurt based on intelligence and investigation.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

Mr. Ajogun also directed an in-depth investigation into the past activities of the suspects in order to know how long they have been into kidnapping. Olusegun Folarin

A 52-year-old man, Kayode Adeniyi has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command, for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 10 year old girl in Ijoko area of the state.

The suspect was also accused of having carnal knowledge with his three under-aged biological daughters.

The Command’s Spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest in Abeokuta said the suspect was apprehended after the aunt of the ten year old girl reported the incident at Agbado Divisional Headquarters.

Mr Oyeyemi explained that the aunt claimed that the suspect forcefully had sexual intercourse with her niece who she said had gone into the suspect’s apartment to ask whether his daughters had mistakenly removed the clothes she spread outside.

He said the aunt alleged that the suspect threatened to kill her with knife if she made any noise. 

The command’s spokesman said the suspect confessed having carnal knowledge of the victim forcefully as well as his three daughters.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward  Ajogun has ordered the Family Support Unit of Sango Area Command to take over the case for in-depth investigation and diligent prosecution.

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested nine members of a notorious land grabbing syndicate for unleashing violence on people of Agbogun Village in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State.

The suspects, Gbenga Odeniyi, Owolabi Shobayo, Michael Ramoni, Idowu Dauda, Femi Fadahunsi, Rasmus Hammed, Ade Lukman, Yakubu Akinwande and Sikiru Balogun were arrested after the Baale of the village had reported the case Obada Oko Divisional Headquarters that the suspects invaded the village and violently attacking the people, extorting money from those working on their sites.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement in Abeokuta said, the DPO Obada Oko Division, Mr Benard Ediagbonya mobilized his patrol team to the scene where they met the suspects attacking one Mrs Oniyide Folashade and one Mrs Agbogun who were developing their sites. 

Mr Oyeyemi explained that, the hoodlums fled the scene upon sighting the police, but they were chased and nine of them were apprehended.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered a massive manhunt for the rest of the hoodlums. 

Mr Ajogun advised land grabbers to stay clear of the state pointing out that the as the command would not tolerate any form of violence on the good people of the state from anyone or group no matter how highly placed such persons might be.

A 45-year-old man, Akanji Oluwaseyi has been arrested by operatives of Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police for forcefully having carnal knowledge of his 13-year-old daughter.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in Abeokuta that the suspect was arrested after the victim reported at Obantoko Divisional Headquarters that her father was having unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

Mr Oyeyemi explained that the victim told the policemen that she was fetching water for her father when the suspect grabbed her and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

The command’s spokesman who said the suspect was arrested at his residence noted that he initially denied the allegation but when he was confronted by the victim, he was dumbfounded.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Ogun State Command of Nigeria Police Force has arrested a twenty-one-year-old suspect, Julius Afuape for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a thirteen-year-old girl.

The suspect was arrested following a report by the Aunt of the victim who reported at Ayetoro Divisional Headquarters that her niece had been sexually abused by the suspect.

The command’s spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi says in a statement that the victim explained that she was alone in the house when the suspect who claimed that he was sent by the victim’s aunt to come and service her generator had carnal knowledge of her. 

The statement explains that the suspect who had fled the community after the incident was arrested and had confessed to committing the crime.

It adds that the victim had been taken to the General Hospital where it was medically confirmed that the victim’s virginity had been taken.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has directed that the suspect be transferred to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has commended the State Police Command and other security agencies in the state for bringing to a halt the reign of a serial killer that had been terrorising people of Ogere and Iperu in Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

Prince Abiodun who gave the commendation when he received the Ogun State Police Commissioner and some of the high ranking officers of the command in his Abeokuta Oke Mosan office, said that it was unfortunate that the serial killer who in the last few months had killed about nine people became a casualty in the process of his arrest.

The Governor also said that his administration had to place a bounty on the serial killer as the state government was no longer comfortable with the situation.

Governor Abiodun maintained that his administration would not tolerate any form of crime and criminality in the state, and gave the assurance that the state government would continue to take necessary steps that would improve security architecture in the state.

In a remark, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun who noted that the serial killer, Samuel Dosunmu, also known as “Hacker Spartan” met his Waterloo when he decided to engage men of the command during an exercise carried out to arrest him, appreciated the state governor for his unwavering support for the command.

Ogun State Police Command, has paraded twenty-eight suspected criminals involved in robbery, murder, cultism, rape and kidnapping.

Among the suspects were rapists, eight armed robbers, one kidnapper and two land grabbers terrorising Ogijo Area of Ogun State.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edward Ajogun while parading the suspects arrested at different areas of the state stated that assorted charms, locally made double-barreled pistols, live cartridges among others were recovered from the suspects.

Mr. Ajogun called on criminals in the state to submit their ammunitions noting that the command had begun house to house search for illegal arms.

An Ogun State-based clergyman also paraded for alleged rape and putting of two under-aged sisters in the family way, Ebenezer Ajigbotoluwa while speaking advised Nigerians not to castigate his religion and accepted committing the crime.

He was also alleged to have swindled the family of the victims to the tune of 1.5million naira.

The new Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Mr Edward Ajogun has promised that the command under his watch will take the battle of crime fighting to the den of criminals and armed robbers.

Mr Ajogun made the promise at the Okemosan Abeokuta Governor’s office during a courtesy visit to Governor Dapo Abiodun. 

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ajogun who was in the company of his predecessor, retired Commissioner of Police Kenneth Ebrimson noted that knowledge and intelligence based operations would be coordinated by officers and men of the command with high level of integrity. 

Mr Ajogun also said the police command would not give room to anyone or group of people bent on destroying government’s property under the guise of protest, warning that any form of protest that could turn ugly would not be tolerated in the state.

Also, the former Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson expressed optimism that the new police commissioner would continue to ensure that the state was more secured and not conducive to criminals.

While giving assurance that his successor would sustain the tempo of security in the state, Mr Ebrimson commended Governor Abiodun for his support towards ensuring that the state under his watch became a tough ground for the criminals.

Responding, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abidoun commended the former Commissioner of Police for taking proactive steps to curb crime and criminality in the state.

The governor who also explained that the police in the state under the leadership of Mr Ebrimson were able to record a significant decrease in cultism, kidnapping and armed robbery, encouraged the new police commissioner and other security heads in the state to consolidate on the feat.

Police in Ogun state have arrested a twenty-two year old vulcanizer, Dele Ope for allegedly stealing an underwear belonging to his client.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement in Abeokuta that the suspect was arrested after the owner of the underwear reported the missing item at Warewa division.

Mr Oyeyemi said the woman claimed that she had invited the suspect to assist in fixing her deflated tyre but she discovered that her underwear that she spread on a rope within the compound was missing.

The police spokesman pointed out that the house of the suspect was quickly searched and the woman’s underwear was recovered there in.

Mr Oyeyemi said the suspect confessed stealing the underwear with the intention of taking it to an herbalist for money-making ritual.

He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered that the suspect be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.

Ogun State Police Command says it has arrested three suspected men for allegedly impersonating to be military men.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in Abeokuta that the three men were arrested in military camouflage in Agbado Area of the state.

Mr Oyeyemi noted that some police officers had been on the close watch of the suspects following a series of reports from members of the public about their illegal activities in the area.

The police spokesman who explained that the suspects claimed initially to be officers of 174 Battalion Ikorodu, confessed to having been dismissed from the Nigerian army a long time ago.

Mr Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Men and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command have arrested the president of the Students’ Union Government of Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Adegboye Olatunji and one Olarewaju Taiwo for alleged cultism.

A statement by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi said the duo were arrested following an information received from members of the public that some group of people suspected to be cultists were sighted in a bush at Gbogidi area of Ilaro where they were trying initiate new members into their dreaded group.

Mr. Oyeyemi explained that the Divisional Police Officer, Ilaro Division, Mr. Olayemi Jacob who received the information, mobilized his patrol team and moved to the scene where the two suspects were arrested, while others escaped through the bush.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the anti-cultists section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCID, for discreet investigation.

Meanwhile, the authorities of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, says it has suspended the institution’s SUG president, Adegboye Olatunji.

A statement by the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Sola Abiala said the suspension of Adegboye was in line with the polytechnic’s zero tolerance for cultism, pending his appearance before the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, SDC, to establish his culpability or otherwise.

Ogun State Police Command says it has arrested a twenty five old cobbler Olamide Babayemi for allegedly raping and making an attempt to kill a twenty-two year old Microbiology graduate.

The state’s Police Public Relations officer, PPRO, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement in Abeokuta that the suspect was arrested following a report by the victim at the Redemption Camp Police Station.

Mr. Oyeyemi explained that the victim claimed to have given the suspect the sum of eighteen thousand naira to help her to buy phone but the cobbler refused to buy the phone for her.

He said the victim told Divisional Police Officer, DPO that the cobbler invited her to an estate in Mowe to collect the phone but the suspect raped her and recorded her naked video which he started sending to some of his friends. 

Mr. Oyeyemi explained that the victim claimed that the phone call that the suspect received from his mother gave her the opportunity to escape from being killed.

The police’s spokesman said the suspect who was arrested by the Mowe Divisional Police Officer claimed to be the boyfriend of the victim.

Mr. Oyeyemi said the suspect blamed the victim for the incident for calling it quits with him after she graduated from the university. 

He noted that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution

Ogun state Police command has arrested a suspected leader of dreaded Eiye confraternity in Ikenne alleged to have been responsible for the killing of about fifteen persons around Ikenne Township.

A statement by the spokesman of the Nigeria Police, Ogun State Command, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect, Sunday Paul also known as “Blade” has been on the wanted list of the Command over a period of time.

The suspect who is one-eyed was however arrested last week following an intensive surveillance and technical investigation into his activities. 

According to Mr. Oyeyemi, the suspect after the arrest was discovered to have been charged to court on three occasions and recently came out of prison over a murder related case.

The Police spokesman said the suspect had also admitted been the leader of Eiye cult group in Ikenne and also confessed to being responsible for the killing of a member of rival cult group.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Oyeyemi disclosed that the Ogun state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bashir Makama has ordered a full scale investigation into the past activities of the suspect with the view to charge him to court as soon as possible.
