Nigerian athlete and global Champion in 100-metre hurdles, Oluwatobi Amusan has been appointed as Ogun State Sports Ambassador.

Governor Dapo Abiodun who announced this when he played host to the current World, Commonwealth and African champion at his Oke Mosan Abeokuta office also presented the sum of five million naira and a house to the star athlete.

Governor Abiodun described Amusan as a role model for the girl child and a point of contact for other youths in the country to renew their hope in hard work, persistence, faith and diligence.

Governor Abiodun who urged youths in the sector to ensure a seamless combination of their Sporting activities and education without any clash of interest gave the assurance that the Ijebu Ode stadium would be made available and in good shape, for the star athlete to train during her stay in the country. 

In a remark, the World Commonwealth and African 100 meters Champion, Tobi Amusan who commended Governor Abiodun for his support, also called on other tiers of the government and development partners to do more for athletes.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has said that the sum of N13bn would be needed to fix the deplorable condition of Sango Ota axis of Lagos Abeokuta road.

Governor Abiodun made this known in Oke Mosan Abeokuta at a virtual Town hall meeting on 2022-2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and 2022 Budget for Ogun West Senatorial District.  

While noting that Ogun west was an industrial capital of the Country, Governor Abiodun said his administration was taking necessary steps to alleviate the sufferings of Motorists passing through Sango Ota axis of Lagos Abeokuta road.

Governor Abiodun also pointed out that 50 units of houses were being built in Ilaro and 130 units in Sango-Ota for medium-income earners, saying a TechHub would be set up in Ota, while a befitting Library would be constructed to cater for the teeming populace in Ota.

In a remark, the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, who decried the slow pace of work on the ongoing construction of Owode – Ilaro road, urged the government to find a solution to the abandoned Ilaro – Ijoun – Ilara Road

Also, the Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege while calling for an upgrade of Gateway Institute of Technology to a University, said there was a need for the government to intensity efforts on a housing scheme in Ota towards reducing the housing deficit in the town.

Executive Chairman, Federal Character Commission, Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, says the commission will continue to ensure equal distribution of social services and economic opportunities for all Nigerians.

Dr. Dankaka  stated in Oke Mosan Abeokuta  when he paid a courtesy visit to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

She explained that the commission was established to ensure a strong, virile and indivisible nation based on equity, fairness and justice that would promote national unity and give every Nigerian a sense of belonging, irrespective of diversity in ethnic, culture, religion or language.

While pointing out that the Commission had implemented its mandates in Ogun State, Dr Dankaka said the state had received its fair share in terms of appointments in the scheme of things.

Responding, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun appealed to the Federal Government to reflect federal character in its approach to road rehabilitation in the country.

Governor Abiodun who pointed out that good road network was necessary for socio-economic development of any nation, maintained that other sectors depended on infrastructure to operate effectively.

Chairman Governing Board of National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Ambassador Fatima  Abubakar has called on Ogun state government to assist the corps in providing additional accommodation for the corps members.

Ambassador Abubakar who made the call in Oke Mosan Abeokuta when the Board paid a courtesy visit to Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun also called for the provision of additional NYSC staff quarters, Ambulances as well as 100 acres of farmland for farming.

Ambassador Abubakar commended the State Government for rehabilitating NYSC Camp and restoring electricity to the NYSC state Secretariat after years of neglect.

Responding, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun said plans were on top gear towards ensuring  that all twenty six state constituencies have at least an ambulance each.

The Governor said that his administration had also launched 24 hours ambulance response service across the state, adding that the service would avail the people of the state the opportunity to call the emergency number and get emergency response on time.

National Youth Service Corp in its quest to venture into Agriculture, Governor Abiodun said that he had directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs  to accommodate every Corp member posted to the MDAs.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has commended the State Police Command and other security agencies in the state for bringing to a halt the reign of a serial killer that had been terrorising people of Ogere and Iperu in Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

Prince Abiodun who gave the commendation when he received the Ogun State Police Commissioner and some of the high ranking officers of the command in his Abeokuta Oke Mosan office, said that it was unfortunate that the serial killer who in the last few months had killed about nine people became a casualty in the process of his arrest.

The Governor also said that his administration had to place a bounty on the serial killer as the state government was no longer comfortable with the situation.

Governor Abiodun maintained that his administration would not tolerate any form of crime and criminality in the state, and gave the assurance that the state government would continue to take necessary steps that would improve security architecture in the state.

In a remark, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun who noted that the serial killer, Samuel Dosunmu, also known as “Hacker Spartan” met his Waterloo when he decided to engage men of the command during an exercise carried out to arrest him, appreciated the state governor for his unwavering support for the command.
