Steve Onishola, elder brother to Folake Aremu, a Nollywood actress better known as Orisabunmi, has passed away at 71, thecable reported.

His death comes about 24 hours after Orisabunmi breathed her last at 60 following a battle with an undisclosed ailment.

In a statement on its Twitter page, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBF) said Onishola died after a brief illness.

The deceased, who passed away on Thursday, was the technical director of Kwara Falcons Basketball Club of Ilorin.

Chairman of the Kwara state basketball association, Joseph Adeyemo, who also confirmed Onishola’s death in a statement, described it as “unfortunate”.

Veteran Yoruba actress Folake Aremu, popularly known as “Orisabunmi” has died.

She was 60 years old.

President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN, Mr Bolaji Amusan, aka Mr Latin, confirmed she died on Tuesday night.

“She died last night sir,” Mr Latin said.

Another senior TAMPAN member, Mr Tunde Ola-Yusuff also announced the death in a Facebook post.

“She left without a goodbye. The sudden death of Mrs Folake Aremu (ORISABUNMI) has been announced.

“Really a shock on everyone. Iya Oosa, may God rest your Soul among the righteous,” Ola Yusuff wrote.

Born on October 10, 1960, in Ilu Ola, Kwara State, Orisabunmi became popular in the 80s TV series “Arelu” starring her then husband, Jimoh Aliu and others like Fadeyi Oloro.

Jimoh and Folake Aliu had a very rocky marriage and the two were separated long before Aworo died in September, 2020.

The veteran actress died at the age of 60 at her residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital during brief illness.
