OSHA Requests Envr. Impact Analysis of Generator Emission by Telecom Operators

The Osun State House of Assembly has directed the House Committee on Environment, to inspect Obalende area in Ipetu-Ijesha area of Osun state on the issue of emissions from generators used by a telecommunication company in the area.

Raising the issue under matter of public importance, the Lawmaker representing Oriade state constituency, Mr. Desmond Ojo said the emissions has affected residents of the area while some have vacated their houses.

Mr. Ojo who noted that many residents have complained of health challenges due to the fumes, urged the House to take a drastic step to put an end to the health hazards being faced by the people.

The Speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye while directing the House Committee on Health to visit the area, said the assembly would not sit and jeopardize the health of its citizens.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Procurement Law Amendment Bill 2020 has passed through the first reading on the floor of the House.

Osun Assembly Asks for Data on Beneficiaries of Cash Transfer

The Osun House of Assembly wants the Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Special Needs, Mr. Yemi Lawal to furnish the House with data of beneficiaries of the conditional cash transfer in the state.

The Speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye made the call when the Commissioner appeared before the House to update lawmakers on the disbursement of cash palliatives to residents of the State.

The Speaker noted that as representatives of the people, there was the need for members of the House to monitor how the money was disbursed to the vulnerables to ensure even distribution.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Special Needs, Mr. Yemi Lawal had told the House that only those who were captured in the list of poorest in the state registered since 2014 would benefit from the cash palliative.

Mr. Lawal said a total number of fifteen thousand seven hundred and fifty two people comprising youths and old vulnerable were captured in the list as updated in 2019.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Mr. Owoeye has appealed to residents of Osun State to obey the lockdown order and stay safe in their homes.

Mr. Owoeye said the decision of the State government to extend the lockdown was not to punish the people but to prevent community spread of the Coronavirus.

He said anybody caught flouting the order would be arrested and dealth with according to law.

Covid-19: Osun Assembly Speaker Takes Campaign to Parks

As part of preventive measures to curtail the spread of Covid 19, Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Timothy Owoeye has taken the sensitization campaign against the pandemic virus to motor parks in the state 

Radio Nigeria correspondent, Isaac Haastrup, who was on the entourage of the Speaker during the visit to Odoiro, Oke Omiru, and Agunrodo motor parks in Ilesa and Ilesa garage, Osogbo reports that improvised wash hand-  tanks, liquid soap and sterilizer were distributed freely to the motor parks by the lawmaker.
