The Chaplain Emmanuel College of Theology, Samonda, Ibadan, the Venerable Babatunde Omowaye has called on political and religious leaders to be diligent and committed in their service to God and humanity.

The Venerable Omowaye gave the advice at a funeral service held for Engineer Olaniyi Afowowe.

The clergyman who described Engineer Afowowe as a great community leader who united people during his lifetime tasked leaders to imbibe these virtues as these would make the society free of societal vices and chaos.

While describing their father as a good man, two of his children Mr Olugbenga Afowowe and Mrs Omolara Ayoade said they would sorely miss their father’s generosity and compassion.

Engineer Alexander Olaniyi Afowowe died on the 28th of February this year at the age of 78.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Remi Afowowe, children, Mr Olugbenga Afowowe, Mrs Olayinka Fabamise, Mrs Omolara Ayoade, a staff of  Premier Fm, Radio Nigeria Ibadan and Mrs Maureen Olufajo and the Grandchildren.

Late Madam Victoria Olulayo Oyelakin who died at the age of seventy four was survived by husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The deceased was a mother-in-law to Sayo Olaniyan a member of staff of Radio Nigeria, Positive FM Akure.

Pastor Adeshina noted that Chief Akinola was a devoted and upright Christian who served God and brought up his children in the ways of the lord.

The cleric admonished the congregation to stand firm in this challenging period and hold onto God’s promises.

In a glowing tribute to their father, three of Chief Ezekiel Akinola’s children, Babatunde Akinola, Tunji Akinola and Mrs. Abiola Akinola Oni said their father taught them to be Godly, hardworking and uphold integrity.

Wife of the deceased, Grace Akinola in an emotional laden voice praised her husband for being a good father to their children.

Chief Akinola was an entrepreneur who managed successful businesses in hospitality and product distributions.

Late Chief Ezekiel Olaniyi Akinola, the Babalaje of Ipetu Ile, Osun state who died on the 1st of august 2021, at the age of 73 was survived by wife, children and grandchildren.

The remains of Dorcas  Egunjobi, a 23 year old mother of one that was allegedly killed in an accident that occurred at Odeku area of Oluyole local government Oyo state has been buried.

Dorcas a mother-of-one was said to be coming from her shop when she met her untimely  death.
It was gathered that  the motorcycle she boarded  together with her four year old daughter colluded with a Lorry at odeku and she died immediately.


 speaking with radio Nigeria the husband of the deceased Mr makinde in a sorrowful laden voice described the incident as unfortunate.


Radio Nigeria correspondent that visited the scene explained  that the issue had triggered a protest by some youths in the area as they barricaded motorist and commercial motorcyclists from carrying out their normal duties.


 Two members of the youths  forum in the area Mr olamide Badru  popularly called biggi and Mr adetunji ridwan said the protest was to call the attention of the Oyo state government  and the house of assembly representative for the area  Tolu Sadie to the situation.


they lamented that similar incident had claimed lives of  three other person within two months.
a leader in the community, Mr Demola Areo urged  concerned authority to find a lasting solution to the issue so as to put an end to wanton loss of live.


As at the time of this report, normalcy has returned to the area following an appeal by some elderly members of the community.

Pastor Abiodun Adeyemo of Christ Revelation Ministry, Eleyele, Ibadan wants people to always work towards bequeathing legacies worthy of emulation especially after death.

Pastor Adeyemo said this during the funeral of a member of staff of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan National Station, Mrs Elizabeth Orunmuyiwa. 

The cleric noted that people should avoid worldly things, while their goals should centre on eternal life. 

Pastor Adeyemo described the late Mrs Orunmuyiwa as an epitome of humility who served God with all commitments.

Speaking on behalf of colleagues of the deceased in Finance Department, FRCN, Ibadan, Mr Adebayo Adesida stated that  Mrs Orunmuyiwa, who was a Chief Accountant before her demise, would be greatly missed for her dedication to duty and humility. 

Members of staff of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan led by Assistant Director, Finance, Mr James Amole, family members as well as Sympathisers were in attendance to bid her a final farewell. 

Mrs Elizabeth Oluwatoyin Orunmuyiwa, aged fifty, is survived by husband, Mr Johnson Orunmuyiwa of FRCN, Ibadan and Children.

The lawmaker representing Akure South/North of Ondo State in the House of Representatives, Mr PDP Adedayo Omolafe is dead. 

Honourable Omolafe, a member of the People’s Democratic Party reportedly slumped around 1pm on Sunday and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Owo in Ondo state where he was confirmed dead in the early hours of Monday. 

Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party in Ondo State has expressed grief and shock over the death of the lawmaker representing Akure South/North Federal constituency. 

The PDP in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Mr. Kennedy Peretei described the passing of Mr Omolafe as a colossal loss to his constituency, Ondo state, the PDP and Nigeria in general. 

The party commiserated with his family and the people of Ondo State in general even as it prayed for the repose of his soul. 

In the meantime, some women have stormed the streets of Akure to mourn the loss of the Federal Lawmaker, Mr.Adedayo Omolafe.

The death of the former General overseer of foursquare gospel church, Nigeria, Reverend Dr Wilson Badejo has been announced.

According to the statement by the national secretary of the church, Revd Yomi Oyinloye, the late reputable leader of the church between the year 1999 to 2009, passed on yesterday after a brief illness.

Reverend Wilson Badejo, aged 74, was survived by wife, children,and grandchildren, including the church of God.

The Abiodun Family of Iperu-Remo, Ogun State has announced the passing on of their Patriach, Dr Emmanuel Abiodun, who slept in the Lord today August 2nd 2021 at the age of 89 after a brief illness. 

A statement by the Governor Of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun says the deceased, an Educationist, worked as a school teacher for many years across the old Western State.

Dr Abiodun, a devout Christian, is survived by his wife, Mrs Victoria Abiodun, many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren among them is the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

There were wailings and weeping by friends, family members and other sympathisers at road 18, Achievers estate, Ologuneru Ibadan where the body of late ICT ICON Mr Oladiran Ojo was committed to the mother earth .

The interment followed a funeral service held at New Convenant Church, Ologuneru, Ibadan. 

Earlier in a sermon, presiding pastor New Convenant Church, Ologuneru, Pastor Peter Potoki said Though death is always painful, but no amount of prayer or weeping can bring him back. 

Pastor Potoki Charged the Congregational to use the occassion of the Funeral to think about their lives and make amends, saying there was no guarantee of tomorrow.

Pastor Potoki said God allowed it and the best gift to give the departed is to make a decision to live right and live for God.

Prayer was later offered for the immediate family. 

The burial service and interment was attended by General Manager Premier FM, Alhaji Bashir Omotoso, Committee of Management of FRCN led by the acting Zonal Director, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi, Friends family and well wishers. 

Aged 39, Diran Ojo was a staff of the ICT Department of the Federal Radio Coporation of Nigeria Ibadan National Station and his wife by mother, wife and two children.

Renowned Pastor and Televangelist, Temitope Balogun Joshua is dead.

The Arigidi Akoko, Ondo state born evangelist was reported dead on saturday night after concluding a church programme.

The chief Imam of Arigidi Akoko, Alhaji Salisu Musa who is an uncle to  T.B Joshua confirmed to Positive fm that the news of his demise was true as it was received from Lagos on saturday night

Alhaji Musa who said he was on his way to house of the deceased in Lagos for further arrangements  lamented that the Popular preacher died suddenly without any prior sickness.

Also confirming the development, The monarch of Arigidi Akoko, Oba Yisa olanipekun said he received the news of the sudden death of the illustrous son of the town with shock.

Oba Olanipekun said late T.B Joshua gave global recognition to the town through the works of his Ministry and his philanthropic gestures.

Other members of the deceased’s extended family who spoke with positive fm noted that he would be sorely missed.

Born On June 12, 1963 on Arigidi Akoko in Akoko Northwest local goelvernment area of Ondo state, T.B Joshua is the leader and founder of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations SCOAN, a Christian megachurch that runs the Emmanuel TV television station from Lagos.

The remains of Radio Nigeria staff Sunday Ogunyemi has been laid to rest at the Apostolic Church, CAC Cemetery, on Igbala Akanran Road Ibadan.

It was gathered that Mr Martins-Kuye died on Sunday morning at his hometown, Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State.
His death was confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Kunle Somorin.
Jubril Martin-Kuye who was born on August 16, 1942, died at the age of 78.

During his lifetime, he served as a senator during the Third Republic. Upon the return of democracy in 1999, he contested for governor of Ogun State under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to Olusegun Osoba.

In the same year, he was appointed by the Olusegun Obasanjo administration as the minister of state for finance where he served till 2003.

President Goodluck Jonathan appointed him as the minister of commerce and industry between 2010 and 2011 while completing the remaining tenure of departed late President Umar Yar-Adua.
Mr Martins-Kuye for several years also served as Aare Musulumi of Ogun State.

Meanwhile, the remains of former Minister of State for Finance,  Senator Jubril Martins – Kuye, has been buried according to the Islamic ritesin  his home town in  Ago  – Iwoye,  Ijebu  He  was interred  after islamic prayers  were offered for peaceful repose of his soul. 
Ogun State  Governor Abiodun Price Dapo Abiodun has described the death of  Senator  Martins-Kuye as a huge loss to members of his family and progressive politicians in the country.

He had successful surgery on a brain blood clot earlier in November and was to be treated for alcohol dependency.

Reactions have continued to trail the death of a foremost industrialist, the Parakoyi of Ibadan land Chief Bode Akindele.

Aged 87, Chief Akindele died in the early hours of Monday.

Chief Bode Akindele, was a successful philanthropist who established Aramed medical Centre along Lagos Ibadan express way among other businesses.

Until his death, the Ibadan born statesman, Sir Akindele was a friend of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station.

First to react to the death was the Olubadan Oba Saliu Adetunji who spoke through his media aide, Adeola Oloko.

Oba Adetunji described the role of the deceased in the economic development Oyo state as pivotal.

President General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Chief Yemi Soladoye expressed the sadness that sir Akindele was the seventh Ibadan indigene who passed on in recent time.

Chief Soladoye said the deceased was a pride of Ibadan.

Pastor Tunji Agboola had a great relationship with the deceased who he described him as a man who lied to lift others up.

Reacting, the Zonal Director FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello said the deceased was a friend of FRCN who was keen about human emancipation.

Chief Bode Akindele was an Ibadan born industrialist who impacted his generation.

The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has mourned the death of the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who passed on Thursday, aged 70.

Dr. Fayemi in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, described Ajimobi’s death as a personal loss to him, and a huge loss to the people of Oyo State in particular and Nigeria in general.

“We have lost a star’ said Fayemi who added that Ajimobi’s death was a painful one not only to the family but to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on which platform the deceased had a remarkable tenure as Governor of Oyo State.

Fayemi described Senator Ajimobi as an accomplished professional, a respected politician and astute administrator, who reached the pinnacle of his professional and political careers by dint of hard work, courage and brilliance.

Fayemi said Ajimobi’s memories would continue to live with him as a friend and brother as well as a dutiful family man and political leader who was ever there for his family, associates and the people he led.

Describing Ajimobi as a “man of history,” Fayemi said the deceased etched his name in the annals of Oyo politics by being the first governor to be re-elected to office in the Pacesetter State.

He described Ajimobi’s two-term tenure as a golden era which recorded execution of people-oriented policies and landmark projects.

The Governor noted that Ajimobi excelled in the private sector and reached the pinnacle of his career as Managing Director of a prominent oil company before venturing into politics, where he equally made some remarkable achievements.

Fayemi said: “We have lost a star. A man of honour and a statesman. But we are consoled that Governor Ajimobi lived a good life, made his mark in his chosen fields, lifted many and left a good name and legacies of honour and industry. We shall surely miss him.

” On behalf of my family, the government and people of Ekiti State, we commiserate with his immediate family, the government and people of Oyo State and pray that God will grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and grant his soul eternal rest.”
