The Nigeria Police Force has declared 12 suspects wanted for alleged conspiracy, murder, armed robbery, acts of terrorism, kidnapping, cultism, and unlawful possession of firearms.

The individuals were said to have been involved in housebreaking, burglary, malicious damage, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace in Isu-Aniocha, Awka North LGA of Anambra State.

The acting Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Friday, identified the men as Edward Okoye, aka Stone, ; Donatus Okeke, Onyemazi Ngini, Onyebuchi Okoye, Nonso Eboh, Chukwuka and Chukwujekwu Anaekeokwu.

Others are Chuka Ilodigwe, Chinedu Okoye, Nonso Obinna, Cosmos Okonkwo, and Chukwujekwu Okoye.

The statement explains that Edward had in conjunction with others shot one Ifeanyi Anazoba, aka Ichafu, and one Chukwuebuka Amodo, aka Mutum, dead at a burial in Umuzuocha town hall, Awka South of Anambra State on January 19, 2019.

They were said to have beheaded them and burnt their bodies beyond recognition.

They also allegedly kidnapped two others and vandalized two properties valued at over N1.2bn.

Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Dr Olusegun Aluko says no student of the institution was raped during the robbery attack in the town.

The rector, while speaking at stakeholders meeting over the armed robbery incident Ilaro, said he was at the scene of the incident for on-the-spot assessment and no report of rape was reported by the students.

Dr Aluko warned those spreading wrong information on the internet to desist from such acts and advised newsmen to always verify the information before publishing.

The Chairman of Ilaro Community Development Council, Mr Adams Sangosina had warned students to desist from wandering about late at night as part of the measures to stem the tide of insecurity in the town.

He decried students wandering around between the hour of eleven 11p.m to 3 am-midnight without regard for community laws and respect for landlords.

At the end of the meeting, the stakeholders agreed that students must stop moving around the town from eleven pm to 4 am.

The meeting was attended by members of Polytechnics, Ilaro Community Forum, landlords associations, representatives of all arms of students, including representatives of security agencies in the town.

Further to the media chat at the scene of crime. Today Thursday 10th February, 2022 at about 1345hrs, a group of masked armed robbers about ten in number trailed, targeted and attacked a bullion van around traffic light area, Idi-Ape junction Agodi, Ibadan.

According to the statement by the PPRO, SP Adewale Osifeso, the armed robbers engaged police officers escorting the bullion van and in the process, an undisclosed amount of money was carted away.

SP Osifeso in swift response, says the police equally neutralized one of the armed robbers while some were believed to have escaped with multiple gunshot injuries.

He says, a civilian onlooker was hit by stray bullet and died at the scene while two Police officers later died in the hospital as a result of gunshot injuries sustained. Four (4) others including Two police officers are responding to treatment.

The PPRO therefore enjoins citizenry not to panic as efforts are in top gear to track down and apprehend the criminal gang, the “Oyo State Police Command seeks the cooperation of the good people of the State in providing necessary information to help maintain the relative peace and tranquility being enjoyed in the State” . Commissioner of Police in Oyo state, Mrs Ngozi Onadeko has confirmed the death of some Policemen during a gun shot duel at Iwo Road ,Ibadan between the policemen and some suspected armed robbers who attacked a bullion van and carted away some cash.

Mrs Onadeko made this known when she visited the scene of the crime.

She said the two killed Police men were attached to the bullion van and they were stopped by some unknown gunmen who started shooting sporadically to scare people off and later killed the two officers.

The Commissioner explained that investigation had begun to unravel the circumstances surrounding robbery. She pointed out that the one of the suspected armed robbers was killed while others were at large.

Mrs Onadeko ,therefore, allayed the fears of people as efforts were ongoing to arrest the culprits.

She noted that the Command had restrategised on how to secure the state optimally to stem down criminality in the state.
