The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Clement Haastrup has pledged to uphold the traditional values of his domain and as well foster socio economic development and unity.

Oba Hastrup made the promise at his inaugural speech following his coronation as the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.

The event which took place at the Owa’s Palace in Ilesa, Osun State, the monarch, who thanked God, said his ascension would mark a turning point in the advancement of his domain.

“This is a sacred trust, as custodian of the heritage of our forebears, I will work with all sons and daughters of the Ijesaland to preserve our legacy and build a future of peace, progress, and prosperity.”

In his address, the State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who led the delegation of political leaders at the event, congratulated the new monarch, describing him as a man of honor, wisdom, and experience who would bring a “golden era” to Ijesaland.

Present at the coronation ceremony were Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, former Governors of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Mr. Isiaka Oyetola, CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission NIDCOM, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Traditional rulers from within and outside Osun State, include the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Timi of Edeland, Oba Adesola Lawal, religious leaders, groups and associations of sons and daughters of Ilesa.

Oba Haastrup, a seasoned statesman and former deputy Governor to the first civilian Governor, late Senator Isiaka Adeleke was chosen after a rigorous selection process that followed the demise of the previous monarch, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, who reigned for over four decades.

His coronation is being seen as both the continuation of an ancient lineage and a new chapter for the people of Ijesaland.

The event was laced with vibrant display of Yoruba culture including music, chants, dances, and the age-old rites of kingship handed down through generations

As the sun set over Ilesa, music of ace musician, Chief Ebenezer Obey, Musiliu Haruna Ishola and other musicians echoed through the streets, marking the dawn of a new reign for Ijesaland under the leadership of its 21st-century monarch.

Osun State government has reiterated its commitment towards ensuring unprecedented development across the nooks and crannies of the State.

The State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke gave the assurance while inaugurating a motorized borehole for the People of Odogbo ijesa, Atakumosa Local Government Area.

Senator Adeleke represented by Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, Alhaji Ganiyu OlaOluwa noted that with the ongoing developmental Projects, the Governor has written his name in gold.

 Senator Adeleke “We are here today to let you know that the present administration feels your pain, most especially in the area of potable water which necessitated our coming here to eliminate your suffering”.

He assured the residents that the ancient city of Odogbo-Ijesa would continue to benefit from the good gestures of the present administration.

The Governor implored residents of the town to ensure proper maintenance of the project.

Earlier in a remark, The Olodogbo of Odogbo-Ijesa, Oba  Olatunde Oginni appreciated Governor Adeleke for his magnanimity towards the people of the town, saying he is a man of his word.

Oba Oginni maintained that a project of such magnitude has eluded the town for more than one hundred years existence of the town.

While appealing to the State Government to provide Electricity, and access roads for the town, The Monarch assured residents that the Governor of his town’s total loyalty towards the success of his administration.

The Event had in attendance, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development and Community Affairs, Mr Lateef Adedapo, management of the Ministry of Rural Development and Community Affairs, the PDP Chairman, Olorunda Local Government, Mr. Amzat Otitokoro among other distinguished personalities.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has expressed his administration’s resolve to ensure constant mobilization of resources to better the lots of rural communities and the vulnerable groups in the State.

Senator Adeleke gave the assurance when he handed over cheques to different clusters of persons living with Disabilities and Schools of Special Students under the Osun State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus, OSUN CARES held in Osogbo the State Capital. 

The Osun State helmsman represented by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi said his administration had supported Osun Community Social Development Agency, Osun CSDA with over five Million Naira for the implementation of multi-sectoral and socially inclusive micro-projects for them, under World Bank Assisted Osun CARES. 

He reiterated that issues affecting persons with disabilities remain a priority for his administration hence, the need for people to embrace and provide the necessary support for them, to enable them to contribute their quota to national growth and development. 

While maintaining that there is ability in disabilities, Senator Adeleke congratulated the beneficiaries and expressed the belief that the projects would be well implemented within the stipulated time. 

Earlier in a welcome address, the General Manager of Osun State Community and Social Development Agency (Osun CSDA), Mrs. Aderonke Abokede explained that the project was an event geared towards activities marking the first 100 days in the office of Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Mrs. Abokede stressed that the State had constantly demonstrated its readiness to build an inclusive community where everyone regardless of their disabilities thrives.

Representatives of the beneficiaries, the state’s Chairman, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities JONAPID, Mr Stephen Olufemi and Mr. Lanre Olakusibe expressed appreciation to the State Government and Osun CSDA for the giant stride, which would go way to improve the lives of the Vulnerable in the State. 

Highlights of the event included a cultural display by Osun State Council for Arts and Culture and students from the School for Persons with Special Needs, Osogbo.

The Osun State Governor-Elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke has warned that any Coordinating Directors who accept a permanent Secretary appointment from outgoing Governor Gboyega Oyetola will exit the service from November 28th.

In a statement by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Governor-elect affirmed that taking such appointments at the last minute without due process indicated the readiness of those directors to exit the state service.

Senator Adeleke said the new permanent secretaries will be treated as political appointees who will automatically follow the outgoing Governor out of public service from November 28.

He advised that those who still want to remain in service of the Osun state government should decline the appointment from the outgoing Governor adding that, no waiver will be entertained in sacking from office any kangaroo permanent secretary.

Osun state governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke has urged journalists to be fair in their reportage and fact-check all information before dissemination.

Senator Adeleke made the call during an interaction with media correspondents at his country home in Ede, Osun state.

The Governor-Elect while describing the media as an integral part of a successful administration, said he would ensure a quarterly interaction with the media to intimate them with the programmes of his administration.

“I want a positive collaboration with the media, Journalist will be part of my administration all the way”

Senator Adeleke who assured journalists that there will be no sentiment in all strata reaffirms introducing town hall meetings on a quarterly basis for interaction with the people of Osun state.

“I’ll put the right people in the affairs of all sectors, I will not appoint an agricultural expert to be commissioner for education. I will put the right peg in the right hole”

He added that he will ensure the fulfilment of the campaign promises to improve the lives of residents without sentiment. 

In his remark, the Secretary of the Transition Committee and member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bamidele Salam described Senator Adeleke as a compassionate man who has the interest of the less privileged at heart and also ready to work with the media.

Responding, the Chairman of Correspondent Chapel, Osun state, Mr. Sina Abubakar pledged the collaboration of Journalists in the state to disseminate credible and balanced reportage.
