The Ogun State House of Assembly has screened an additional two commissioner- nominees forwarded to the House by Governor Dapo Abiodun with a charge on them to work relentlessly towards ensuring improved service delivery to the people of the State.

The commissioner nominees are Mr Jamiu Odetogun and Mrs Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan.

Speaker, Ogun State house of Assembly, Mr Olakunle Oluomo speaking during the exercise at the Assembly complex Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, described the nominees as experienced politicians, who are capable of adding value to the development of the state.

Mr Oluomo advised the nominees to be good ambassadors in any ministry they found themselves if they were eventually appointed as commissioner, and to work in synergy with lawmakers, in moving the state to a greater height. 

According to him, the task ahead required the collaboration of all stakeholders in the polity to work together for the betterment of the people in line with the mandate given by the people so as to consolidate on the existing gains of the ISEYA Mantra of the present administration. 

Mrs. Ilori-Oduntan, an American-trained Nurse and realtor, was until her nomination, Commissioner 3 in the State Universal Basic Education Board ( SUBEB); while Mr. Odetoogun, an HND holder in Urban and Regional Planning and until his nomination, a Deputy General Manager and Board Member of Signage and Advertising Agency.

The governor of Osun State, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola says the recruitment exercise for teachers in the state will be merit-driven. 

Governor Oyetola gave the assurance in a speech during the inauguration and distribution of educational materials, sports equipment and other materials to pupils with special needs in primary and junior secondary schools at the warehouse of State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB. 

He noted that the initiative of SUBEB to make provision for schools across the state, was a continuation of his administration’s efforts in building the capacity of young ones and posterity for a strong and prosperous state. 

The governor explained that he had followed this up by responding swiftly and bridging the dearth of manpower in the sector through the commencement of the recruitment process for the appointment of more teachers. 

Earlier, the Chairman of SUBEB, Mr Israel Famurewa, in his address explained that the distribution of instructional materials, sports materials and materials for the special needs school was to prioritise the teaching and learning activities in schools as well as making the pupils in such a school to have a sense of belonging.

Over eleven thousand applicants are to write examination in the ongoing recruitment of teachers into the public primary schools in Ekiti state.

The examination is slated for next week Saturday at six centres of Ado, Ikere, Ikole, Ijero, Ido and Ode Ekiti.

The chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Professor Francisca Aladejana told newsmen in Ado Ekiti that more than nineteen thousand applicants obtained forms online during the first stage but over eleven thousand of them met the requirements in the second stage.

Professor Aladejana urged the qualified applicants to check their seat numbers on www.ekitistate.gov.ng/job in readiness for the written examination.

The Ekiti State Head of Service, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi said recently that one thousand, and one hundred among the applicants will be employed into the public primary schools in the state.
