Tinubu Decorates Service Chiefs at Presidential Villa

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has performed the official decoration of the newly appointed Service Chiefs.

This pivotal event formally marks the beginning of their tenure as the nation’s topmost defence officers.

The ceremony which held inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, was witnessed by the Vice President, Senator Kassim Shetimma, top government officials and family members of the officers.

The Service Chiefs, whose appointments were initially declared on the 19th of June, have undergone comprehensive screening by the National Assembly.

Having successfully completed this legislative scrutiny, they now take up their roles as the chief architects of Nigeria’s defence and security strategies.

President Tinubu, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief, presented the new Service Chiefs with their higher office insignia, signifying the weight of the responsibilities they now bear.

Each Chief, resplendent in their uniforms adorned with their high office’s symbols, pledged their dedication to ensuring the peace, unity, and security of the Nigerian state.

Gen. Diya was a selfless, diligent leader – President Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu on Saturday extolled the virtues of former Chief of General Staff, deceased Gen. Oladipo Diya, whom he described as a selfless and diligent leader.

The president stated in his message to the final funeral rites of Diya at his hometown, Odogbolu, Ogun that the Diya’s contributions to nation-building remained a reference point to coming generations.

The president’s message was delivered by Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

The president noted that while Diya’s death was painful, his impactful life and legacies were sufficient to console his loved ones and the generality of Nigerians.

He added that Diya’s contributions to the sanctity of Nigeria’s territorial integrity were legendary.

“Gen. Diya’s efforts towards curtailing several uprisings that threatened the corporate entity of Nigeria are legendary and these will remain indelible in the consciousness of Nigerians and sub-Sahara Africans.

“Indeed his life of selfless and diligence in the service of the military remains a reference point for coming generations of military officers.

“His leadership and tactical prowess greatly contributed to the success of this nation.

“He implemented various reforms in the army, including training programmes and welfare for soldiers and under his leadership, the Nigerian Army witnessed significant advancement and operational effectiveness,’’ Tinubu stated.

Late Gen. Diya was born in Odogbolu, Ogun State on April 3, 1944.

He joined the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna at a youthful age and was part of the active soldiers who fought during the Nigerian Civil War between July 6, 1967 and Jan. 15, 1970.

Diya studied Law at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained an LLB degree.

He studied law also at the Nigerian Law School, where he was called to the bar as Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

In 1993, deceased maximum ruler, Gen Sani Abacha appointed Diya as his Chief of General Staff and in 1994, made his Vice-Chairman of the Provisional Ruling Council.

Prior to his appointment as Abacha’s second-in-command, Diya served as the Chief of Defence Staff and Military Governor of Ogun State from January 1984 to August 1985.

On Dec. 21, 1997, the military regime of Abacha arrested top army officials including Gen. Diya, and 11 others for allegedly plotting to “violently’’ overthrow Abacha.

One week before his arrest, Diya had allegedly narrowly missed becoming the victim of a bomb explosion at the Abuja airport.

He was on his way to represent Abacha at the funeral of the mother of Major-General Lawrence Onoja in Benue.

Diya, in collaboration with retired Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi (Chief of Army Staff from 1996 to 1999) and other notable officers demanded four things from Abacha.

They had noticed that he was beginning to nurture the plan to transmute as president for life.

They demanded that the original draft of the 1995 Constitution be promulgated without the mutilation to which Abacha was subjecting the document.

They demanded that the June 12 crisis be resolved and along with it, the release of political prisoners which included the winner of the June 12 1993 presidential elections, late Bashorun MKO Abiola.

They also demanded that Abacha should make an unambiguous public pronouncement that he had no intention of succeeding himself.

The army generals demanded also that an attempt to eliminate Yoruba military officers should be terminated.

Diya was tried by a military tribunal and was given the death penalty.

Fortunately, upon the sudden death of Abacha in 1998, Diya was pardoned by the late Head of State’s successor, retired Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Gen. Diya died on March 26, 2023

In his sermon, Rt. Rev. Babatunde Ogunbanwo, Bishop of Ijebu Southwest, described Diya as a lover of God and God’s duties.

Taking his text from the Acts of Apostles in the Bible, Ogunbanwo likened Diya to King David who served God’s purpose for his family, his work and his country.

According to the priest, Gen Diya served his generation faithfully while playing his part in the affairs of the nation.

“He is in the categories of those who left their marks in the annals of developmental and political history of Nigeria.

“He stood for whatever is right; a bold and courageous man and a military leader of great repute; disciplined, forthright, honest and not corrupt.

“He played his part in the affairs of our nation and his life was a great symbol of service and diligence. We have witnessed the end of a fulfilled life,’’ Ogunbanwo said.

He charged politicians and Nigerians in general to emulate the life of service which Diya led.

He enjoined the family to remain united and to keep the legacies of the patriarch intact.

Among dignitaries present at the event were the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, Ogun government functionaries, senators, House of Representatives members, former military administrators and captains of industry.

Tinubu, NSA, Service Chiefs, IGP in Closed-Door Meeting

President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting behind closed doors with the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, new service chiefs and the Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting is the first of such since President Tinubu approved the appointment of the new set of security managers almost two weeks ago.

The NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, is leading the security chiefs and the Acting IGP to the meeting.

Among those in attendance are the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and the Acting IGP, Kayode Egbetokun.

Tinubu Holding Closed-Door Meeting With Govs

President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with governors of the 36 states of the federation, under the umbrella of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting, which is his maiden meeting with the governors since he assumed office on May 29, commenced at about 12:36pm.

Some of those present at the meeting include the governors of Zamfara, Kano, Taraba, Kogi, Ogun, Nasarawa, Bayelsa, Adamawa, Ebonyi, Lagos, Rivers, Osun, Jigawa, Benue, Taraba, Delta, Enugu, Rivers, Oyo, Plateau, Kebbi, Abia, Imo, Bauchi

The deputy governors of Edo and Niger are representing their states.

Those not sighted before the commencement meeting are governors of Katsina, Kaduna, Gombe, Borno, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Ekiti and Sokoto.

Also attending the meeting are Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume.

It will be recalled that President Tinubu had last week Friday, met with the Progressive Governors Forum, which is a forum for governors elected on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC.

JOHESU Suspends Strike for 3 Weeks

Joint Health Workers’ Union, JOHESU, has suspended its indefinite strike after meeting with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The National Vice-President, JOHESU, Obinna Ogbonna, who confirmed the development on Monday evening, said the strike was suspended due to the progress made during engagement with the president.

Ogbonna said President Tinubu pleaded with the striking health workers to “give him the benefit of the doubt” to resolve matters amicably.

However, the union gave a 21-day timeline to the government to “assess progress and commitment of state actors” in resolving the issues.

Tinubu Pledges to Deliver on Promises

President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Sunday night, told Nigerians that he applied to be the President, hence, he would live up to expectations and deliver on his promises.

The President-elect said he would set Nigeria back on the path of growth, poverty, and policy inconsistency notwithstanding.

Asiwaju Tinubu spoke at the Inauguration Dinner/Gala Night, organized by the Presidential Transition Council (PTC), at the Old Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja

He that though there are many issues confronting the country, including corruption, poverty and policy inconsistency, none of them would be an excuse for nonperformance by his administration, saying there will be no excuses for failure.

According to him, “To the many Heads if State present here, our brothers and sisters, celebrating with us, I thank you, but I want to say clearly for us to take away, what lessons has Nigeria democracy taught the rest Africa, if not the whole world.

“Resilience, determination, courage, love in diversity, though our tongues and tribes differ. Byb tomorrow afternoon, my predecessor is heading to Daura, on the border with Niger, but I have told him not to worry, he will still get a knock on his door. No matter how short a man is, he will see the sky. I will still be able to find him when I need his help.

“Here is a country that has stumbled a number of times, but has never faltered. We can be squeaky like old mama’s car, but we will never break apart. We are just a unique country.

“We must fight corruption, poverty, inconsistencies in policies and many other problems confronting us, but don’t pity me, I asked for the job, I campaigned for it, no excuses, I will live up to the bill deliver. I promise you” he said.

In his speech, the outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari, thanked the dignitaries who have come to honour Nigeria, stressing that the success the country just achieved with the election, which produced the incoming set of leaders.

He said that the electoral process has given power back to the Nigerian electorate.

He said, “I congratulate fellow Nigerians who have realized their power that their votes count. I’m looking forward to tomorrow to fly to my base and go back to my cows and sheep, which are much easier to control than fellow Nigerians.

“Your Excellencies, Heads of States and Government, and their representatives that have come to share this day with us, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I thank very much and I say good bye to you and wish us the best of luck”, he said.

Earlier, the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, in company of Tinubu, incoming First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima and his wife unveiled a book titled “Renewed hope, Greater together”.

Some of the world leaders seen at the colourful event included the Presidents of South Africa Sierra Leone, Ghana, Burundi, Liberia, Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Central Africa Republic, Gabon, the Prime Minister of Morocco, Vice President of Venezuela and many more.

I Won’t Betray your Trust, Tinubu Tells Nigerians

The President-elect Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, in Abuja, said he will not disappoint the trust conferred upon him by the President Muhammadu Buhari (and millions of Nigerians.

He also affirmed that he understands the magnitude of the honour conferred upon him and the corresponding task ahead.

Tinubu made the promise in his acceptance speech after he was conferred with the National Honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.

“I understand the magnitude of the honour conferred on me today and the task ahead. Nigerians deserve no less.

“You (Buhari) have charted the course and I shall not disappoint you,” he said.

Thursday’s conferment makes Tinubu the 16th person to hold the GCFR Honour.

Those before him are Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, Shehu Shagari, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Ibrahim Babangida, Ernest Shonekan, Sani Abacha, Moshood Abiola, Umaru Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan.

Others who have been conferred with the title include British Monarch Queen Elizabeth II, South Africa’s Nelson Mandela and former Libyan Leader, Muammar Gaddafi.

Buhari also conferred vice president-elect Kashim Shettima. with the honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger.

Earlier, he handed three key transition documents to the president-elect in line with Executive Order 14 mandating the transition council to issue handover notes containing, amongst other things, proposed policy direction to the incoming administration.

Buhari Confers Highest National Honours on Tinubu, Shettima

President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima have been honored with the highest national awards of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (GCFR) and the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), respectively.

President Muhammadu Buhari conferred these national honors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja as part of the inauguration activities for the new administration on May 29.

George Akume, the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, congratulated the President-elect and expressed optimism that the incoming administration would lead the country into an era of prosperity. He believed that the progressive legacies established by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would be continued by the incoming administration.

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), acknowledged President Muhammadu Buhari’s visionary leadership, emphasizing the achievements made in the past eight years. He highlighted the administration’s successful efforts in overcoming obstacles, particularly in the areas of security, infrastructure, and the economy.

The SGF emphasized the multifaceted approach employed by President Buhari, which played a pivotal role in lifting the country out of the recession inherited by his administration. Notable accomplishments during President Buhari’s tenure included significant advancements in infrastructure, such as railway lines, road projects, the Second Niger Bridge, and improvements in the power sector.

Overall, these honors reflect the recognition of President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima for their distinguished service to the nation and signify the expectations for continued progress and prosperity under the new administration.

Tinubu Govt. will build on success of Dangote refinery – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari said the incoming government will build on the success of the Dangote refinery. 

President Buhari gave this while speaking at the commissioning of the Dangote refinery situated at the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos.

He said, “I am confident that my successor, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will sustain the improvement in our economy and business environment.

Dangote refinery will contribute to the industrialization of our economy and that of our continent.

Buhari, was received by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by the President/CEO, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, among other dignitaries.

Five African presidents are expected to attend the inauguration of the Dangote Refinery alongside President Buhari today (Monday).

The dignitaries are President Gnassingbé Eyadéma of Togo, President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, President Macky Sall of Senegal, President Mohamed Bazoum of Niger Republic, and President Mahamat Déby of Chad. 

Others are President Paul Kagame of Rwanda who will deliver a goodwill message virtually, amongst other hosts of ambassadors.

Recall that the Dangote Group, in a statement Saturday on Twitter, had said the refinery will be churning out Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), diesel (AGO), aviation jet fuel and Dual-Purpose Kerosene (DPK), among other refined products.

The CEO Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, Sanjay Gupta, stated that “everything in this plant by way of size is the first. It is the largest single-train refinery in the world”.

“There is no single column that can process 650,000 barrels per day anywhere else,” he stated.

24th Synod: Change Governance Dynamics, Akinfenwa Tells Tinubu, Makinde

The incoming administration of the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been urged to prioritize governance over politics.

Bishop of Ibadan Diocese, Anglican Communion, The Most Reverend Joseph Akinfenwa made the appeal while reading the Bishop’s charge during the first session of the 24th synod of the diocese at the Cathedral of Saint James the Great, Oke Bola, Ibadan.

The Most Reverend Akinfenwa said for the desired change and development Nigerians crave for to become reality, the President-Elect, as well as, other elected political leaders must shun politicking and focus more on governance.

The Most Reverend Akinfenwa appealed to Asiwaju Tinubu to ensure that his cabinet was populated with technocrats rather than career politicians.

“For many years, we have enumerated and reiterated myriad areas of need in our Nation, and made countless suggestions to government. This year, we shall be content to appeal to the incoming administration to give governance priority over politics. Our Nation has suffered a huge setback, and we need to exert ourselves extraordinarily if we are to catch up.”

The Bishop urged Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde to correct the notion that most Governors do not perform during their second term in office.

The Most Reverend Akinfenwa, while congratulating Governor Makinde for his reelection, called on the Governor to change the narrative through the delivery of landmark projects across the state.

“We congratulate the Governor of Oyo state on his re-election for a second term in office. We appreciate and commend him for fulfilling his promises to the electorate (especially teachers and civil servants) over the last four years. We also take good note of the various infrastructural projects that the government has managed to complete within just four years.”

“We appeal to Governor Seyi Makinde to please prove wrong the analysts who argue that second-term Governors are usually a tale of woes. Your Excellency, please let your own second term be a marked improvement over the first term. Our prayers are with you for divine wisdom and good health to steer the ship of our dear Oyo State to a place of greatness in the comity of states.”

The Most Reverend Akinfenwa equally charged Christians not to relent in their service to God and humanity, noting that no good work would go unrewarded.

The Bishop of Ibadan Diocese also harped on the need for people to always create time to rest from their everyday activities in order not to wear out.

He appreciated members of the diocese for their selfless services over the years, which he said had brought tremendous growth to the diocese.

The highlight of the programme was the launching of the Bishop’s Charge.

Earlier on Thursday at the Eucharistic opening service of the synod, held at the Cathedral of Saint James the Great, Oke Bola, The Venerable Timothy Jaiyeoba of Immanuel Anglican Church, Ashi, Ibadan admonished Christians not to despise the days of small beginnings but to put their trust in God for a better future.

The Venerable Jaiyeoba said though things might not be going at the desired pace at the onset, Christians should always keep faith in God and imbibe the virtue of patience.

The Venerable Jaiyeoba also admonished the congregants not to despise the poor, vulnerable or less privileged around them.

He harped on the need for Christians to always wait and rely on God, who alone was capable of turning things around for the better.

The theme of this year’s synod is “In the beginning”.

Easter: Show love regardless of tongue, faith, tribe – Tinubu

The President-elect, Senator Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to reflect on the priceless sacrifice and limitless love of God for mankind at Easter.

Tinubu made the call in an Easter goodwill message contained in a statement by him on Saturday.

The President-elect enjoined Christians across the country to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by showing love to neighbours, regardless of tongue, faith and tribe as they celebrate Easter.

He noted that Easter was about renewed hope and redemption, adding that it symbolised the triumph of hope over despair, love over hate and condemnation, and optimism over cynicism.

“Let us embrace this spirit and recommit ourselves to edifying and patriotic pursuits in the interest of our nation.

“I send my best wishes to Christians in Nigeria and all over the world who are celebrating Easter this Sunday.

“As we all enjoy the well-deserved break, I urge every Nigerian to reflect on the priceless sacrifice and limitless love of God for mankind.

“For Christians everywhere, this celebration is in commemoration of Jesus Christ’s life of service and his supreme sacrifice for the salvation of mankind.

“Let us all imbibe the essential message of Christ’s ministry and truly begin to love our fellow Nigerians as we love ourselves,” he said

According to the two-term former governor of Lagos State, we will make faster progress toward the achievement of the peaceful, united, strong, progressive and prosperous country we all desire if we eschew divisive, parochial, ethnic, religious sentiments and rivalries.

He urged Nigerians to begin to live more harmoniously with their compatriots.

The vice president conveyed his felicitations in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday in Abuja.

Professor Osinbajo prayed to God to grant the president-elect more wisdom and strength in the years to come.

“Dolly and I rejoice with you, the family, friends and associates on this occasion of your 71st birthday. PMB Congratulates Bola Tinubu as President-Elect

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the winner of the just concluded Presidential Election and Candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 

The President described Bola Tinubu as the best person for the job and promised to work with him and his team to ensure an orderly and smooth transmission. 

“The election was Africa’s largest democratic exercise. In a region that has undergone backsliding and military coups in recent years, this election demonstrates democracy’s continued relevance and capability to deliver for the people it serves’’ President Buhari noted.

“Within Nigeria, the results reveal democracy’s ripening in our country. Never has the electoral map shifted so drastically in one cycle. In the presidential elections, states in all regions across the nation changed colour. Some of you may have noticed my home state among them. The winning candidate did not carry his own home state either. That happens during a competitive election. Votes and those that cast them cannot be taken for granted. Each must be earned. Competition is good for our democracy. There is no doubt the people’s decision has been rendered in the results we look at today”. President Buhari noted.

President Buhari explained “That is not to say the exercise was without fault. For instance, there were technical problems with the electronic transmission of the results. Of course, there will be areas that need work to bring further transparency and credibility to the voting procedure. However, none of the issues registered represents a challenge to the freeness and fairness of the elections”. 

He called on candidates who believe they can prove the fraud they claim was committed against them, with evidence or want to challenge it, should go to the court, not to the streets. 

President Buhari implored all candidates to remember the peace pledge they signed before the election and not to undermine the credibility of INEC.

President said ”Let us now move forward as one. The people have spoken.”

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed the Governors of the 36 states for standing on the side of the Nigerian people over the Central Bank’s new Naira and cashless policies that have subjected the masses to pains.

According to Asiwaju Tinubu, the Governors especially the APC Governors who instituted the suit against the CBN and Federal Government at the Supreme Court acted well on behalf of the helpless Nigerians who have been made to bear the brunt of Naira redesign policy that has been poorly implemented

The Supreme Court on Wednesday morning in a lawsuit brought before it by the governments of Zamfara, Kogi and Kaduna States gave an interim injunction against the CBN and Federal Government, allowing the old N200, N500 and N1000 to remain legal tender beyond February 10 deadline until the case is fully disposed of.

Following the apex court ruling, Asiwaju Tinubu noted that the governors have saved the country from needless political and economic crises and miseries which have clearly become the unintended consequences of the monetary policy of the apex bank.

Asiwaju Tinubu noted that the Supreme Court ruling coincided with the advisory of the International Monetary Fund urging for the extension of the deadline for the swap of the old naira notes, going by the problems being experienced across the country in getting the new notes.

“I want to salute the courage of our Governors and most especially the Progressives Governors in APC who acted to save our country from avoidable and dangerous political crises and social unrest which the Central Bank policy on new Naira notes has brought on our country. 

“The Federal Government and relevant stakeholders can now sit down and work out a better framework on how to proceed with the new policy without causing any social and economic disruption and inconvenience to our people. We have examples of other countries that have successfully and seamlessly changed their currencies to learn from. 

 “The sole aim of my running to be the president of our country is to make life better and more abundant for our people and this is an ideal for which I will remain eternally committed to.”

Asiwaju Tinubu called on the CBN to ensure that the Supreme Court ruling is effectively executed by taking all necessary steps to ensure sufficient availability of Naira notes be it old or new and properly sensitising the public on the ruling and the consequent validity of old Naira.

Ex Rivers Lawmaker Pledges Support for Tinubu

Former representative of Rivers South-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe, has dumped the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Rivers State.

Abe in a statement signed by his spokesman, Parry Benson, on Wednesday afternoon, however, pledged his continued support to the presidential bid of APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

The statement quoted Abe as saying, “I have since left the APC in Rivers State, I am still part of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s family and has no issue with him whatsoever.”

Tinubu Officially Presents Shettima as Running Mate

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu has officially declared former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate.

This was coming barely two weeks after the national leader of the party picked the lawmaker as his vice-presidential candidate.

Tinubu, who is a former Lagos State governor alongside other APC stalwarts, including the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, officially unveiled Shettima at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has described the choice of Sen Kashim Shettima as APC Vice Presidential candidate as the wisest choice made by the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed. 

A statement personally signed by the Governor and made available to Radio Nigeria in Maiduguri describes Shettima as one of the patriotic Nigerians who understands the complexities of the country. 

Zulum promised to campaign vigorously to secure an overwhelming victory for the APC in the 2023 general elections. 

“Without the slightest doubt, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has chosen a leader who has a very deep understanding of our country and its complexities. There is hardly any tribe in any of Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT that Senator Kashim Shettima cannot knowledgeably speak about. He knows the social, cultural, religious, economic and political structure of virtually all the 36 States and the FCT.”

The statement adds that the APC presidential candidate Senator Bola Tinubu has chosen a running mate with very deep knowledge not only of the Nigerian economy but also of that of the world.

“As far back as 2012, Shettima had on many occasions predicted the likelihood of fall in revenue from oil just as he predicted potential fall in the value of naira to dollar, which was why he imported agricultural products worth over ₦30 billion which today are worth far more, making Borno one of the richest in agricultural machinery”, he added.

Governor Babagana Zulum expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari, for his political leadership over the years and for supporting Shettima’s choice as the party’s vice-presidential candidate.

Tinubu will fix power problem in a year- Amosun

The Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial district of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun says he has the confidence that the All Progressives Congress APC led administration under Senator Bola Tinubu’s administration will work to generate, transmit and distribute about fifteen thousand megawatt of electricity within a year

Senator Amosun made this known at a reception rally held in Abeokuta to celebrate what his loyalists called heroic welcome to the state after the APC special convention in Abuja.

The former governor who lamented that the country was  having challenges said the flag bearer of the party will fix the problems of insecurity, poor power supply and unemployment.

Senator Amosun while campaigning for the party’s Presidential candidate,  disclosed that his personal interest to be president of the nation was not as important as the interest of the south-west region of the country.

The former Presidential aspirant also called on his supporters and loyalists to support the APC and it’s presidential candidate, Senator Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general election.

Resolve All Lingering Crises – Tinubu Charges Folarin, Oyo APC Excos

National leader and Presidential Aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Tinubu has called on the leadership of the party in Oyo state to resolve all crises within its fold ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Senator Tinubu made the call in Ibadan while addressing executives and stakeholders of the party in the state.

He stressed that it was only if the party was united without any rancour, that it could take over Oyo state from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the forthcoming general elections.

The APC National leader also advised the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Senator Teslim Folarin to reach out to all aggrieved members and ensure genuine reconciliation.

Senator Tinubu equally solicited the support of Oyo APC delegates at the upcoming APC Presidential primary.

Also speaking, Oyo State APC governorship flag-bearer, Senator Teslim Folarin declared the support of Oyo APC for the ambition of Senator Tinubu to pick the presidential ticket

Senator Folarin also appealed to the two-term governor of Lagos State to meditate on the division in Oyo APC for the party to emerge victorious in the 2023 general elections.

Earlier, the state chairman of the party, Chief Isaac Omodewu admonished APC faithful to work effortlessly at winning elective positions at all levels of government.

Our correspondent reports that Senator Tinubu later endorsed the sons of three former Governors of Oyo State, Dapo Lam-Adesina, Idris Abiola-Ajimobi, and Olamiju Alao-Akala for their political ambitions.

Tinubu Picks APC Presidential Nomination Form

Former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has picked the N100 million Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tinubu, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for lesser Hajj, was represented by some of his close associates including House of Representatives member from Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke; member representing Agege Federal Constituency in the green chamber, Babatunde Adejare; and a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

Faleke, Lawal and other loyalists of the APC National Leader picked up the presidential forms for him at the party’s national secretariat located at Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, at exactly 3pm.

Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba; Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; amongst others have already picked up the APC presidential forms while others are expected to follow suit in the coming days.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige; Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi; former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha; former Abia State Governor, Orji Kalu; are amongst those jostling to be the flagbearer of the party.

Olubadan Harps on Unity among Yoruba Race

Irrespective of whatever might have been the founding philosophy of the various Yoruba groups working for Yoruba interests, they have been called upon to forge a common front through which the common, collective and desired goal of the Yoruba race could be achieved.

This call was made by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Sen. Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II while playing host to the leadership of the Yoruba Progressive Forum (YPF) which paid him a visit at his Alarere residence on Friday.

Olubadan, who disclosed that he had received quite a number of similar groups on courtesy/congratulatory visits to his palace expressed appreciation for the gesture but noted that it would be in the interest of all for the various groups to work together and form a common front.

The monarch said the need for oneness and unity among the various groups becomes imperative in view of the current political climate, where the Yoruba is clamouring for the presidency come 2023, stressing that working across purposes would be detrimental to the common interest.

According to him, “I’m not unaware that while some of our various groups have political agenda, some are for the renaissance of our culture and tradition and some think along the line of economic emancipation among others, but, the fact remains that it is all about the well-being of our people and this calls for unity of purpose”.

The National Coordinator of the YPF, Abdullateef Olalekan, who said the group came to felicitate the monarch on his ascension to the throne noted the visit was to also sensitize the Palace on the political journey the group had embarked upon a couple of years ago on the possibility of the former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu contesting the presidential election come 2023.

He said, “ever before Asiwaju Bola Tinubu declared his intention to run for the topmost office in the land, our group has gone round the six geo-political zones of the country to test his acceptability and we are happy to inform Kabiyesi that the outcome of our test was outstandingly awesome.

”Thus, with his eventual declaration a couple of months ago for the plum office, we are convinced that our efforts would yield the desired result and that’s why we have come to Your Imperial Majesty for royal blessings. We also solicit for Kabiyesi’s support towards reaching other monarchs for similar blessings”, he added.

Group Hails Tinubu for Cancelling Colloquium

The Nigerian Youth and Diaspora Forum For Bola Ahmed Tinubu (NYD4BAT) has praised the National Leader and Presidential hopeful of the All Progressive Congress, APC, for cancelling his 70th birthday event in honour of victims of terrorists bombing in Kaduna.

A statement signed by the Media Director of the NYD4BAT, Dr Ajibola Abayomi, praised Tinubu for demonstrating uncommon love for the victims of the incident by halting all the activities related to the birthday already ongoing at the Eko Hotel and Suite in Lagos.

“While NYD4BAT sympathized with the families of the bereaved and wished the survivors quick recovery, we want to put it on record that “Aswaju Tinubu in his statement element demonstrated what leadership entails despite the billions of naira already invested in the colloquium that had on seat top dignitaries both from Nigeria and abroad.

“The manner Tinubu took everyone by storm when he mounted the podium to announce the cancellation of the event is a demonstration of genuine concern and total humanity that are lacking in our system which many occupiers of political offices today must learn from. With this spirit of heart-felt love for the victims, If he becomes the President, certainly he would run a government with a human face.

“At this moment, the heart of the NYD4BAT is with the victims and we call on the federal government to ensure that every energy is channeled to ensure that terrorism is defeated in Nigeria” Dr Ajibola counseled.

It would be recalled that on  March 29 that a train with 970 passengers going from Abuja to Kaduna was attacked by terrorists between Katari and Rijana communities where some were reportedly killed from bomb blast and gunshot wounds while some were abducted.
