Delta State Commissioner for Works, Mr. James Augoye, has raised an alarm over the collapsing Ologbo Bridge along Benin-Sepele-Warri Road which he said poses a danger to motorists playing the route.

Mr. Augoye gave the warning in a press briefing in Asaba, where he urged the federal government to take urgent steps to address the situation, while promising the state government will embark on palliative measures on the section of the road.

The Commissioner mentioned the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC and the State Traffic Management Agency, DESTMA, have been contacted to manage traffic situation in the area.

Mr. Augoye also gave update on state of the failing Udu Bridge in Udu Local Government Area which was built in the 1970’s, adding the Ministry have conducted an integrity test on the facility and discovered it to be safe for motorists.

He mentioned efforts were on to renovate the handrails on the bridge which was found to have been dilapidated.

Earlier, the Delta State Commissioner Ministry of Information, Mr. Chalrse Aniagwu promised that as soon as the rains receded the state government will commence construction of road projects across the state.

Mr. Aniagwu said contractors have been engaged and ready for mobilization to the various sites.
