Nigerian leaders have been urged to see the current challenge posed by Covid-19 as a call for a more proactive approach in governance.

The Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, University of Ibadan Chapter Professor Ayoola Akinwole stated this when he led the Union’s executives on a courtesy visit to Radio Nigeria, Oba Adebimpe Road, Dugbe Ibadan.

Professor Akinwole, who explained that the union embarked on the visit to donate sanitisers to Radio Nigeria Ibadan, said the Covid-19 pandemic has shown the compelling need for government to do more in the provision of facilities and infrastructure in the country.

The don said ASUU, as part of its social responsibility, had launched awareness campaign on Coronavirus through the distribution of fliers in the major Nigerian languages including pidgin, besides providing the public with sanitisers produced by the Union.

Responding, Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria Ibadan, Alhaji Mohammed Bello, lauded ASUU for its gesture, urging the Union to continue to maintain its status as big player in national discuss.

Alhaji Bello added that Radio Nigeria Ibadan would always be at the forefront in collaborating with relevant stakeholders in promoting matters of national importance.
