A former Minister of Justice and Attorney-general of the Federation Chief Abimbola Osuolale Richard Akinjide is dead.

Confirming his death, a personal assistant to the daughter of the deceased, Chief Jumoke Akinjide, Alhaji Ibrahim Ademola who confirmed the development to Radio Nigeria in the Idi Ishin residence of the deceased said the legal luminary died on arrival at the University College Hospital at midnight. 

Alhaji Ademola told Radio Nigeria that the deceased fell unconscious after eating dinner but was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Alhaji Ademola who confirmed that the children of late Chief Akinjide have been contacted explained that he could not ascertain further arrangements considering the present COVID 19 pandemic and social distancing directive until the family meets. 

He said the body of deceased had been deposited at the UCH morgue, and

As at the time of filing this report, there were no visitations or condolences at “The Rock” building of the deceased. 

Late Chief Richard Akinjide was a former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, a legal icon, as well as chieftain of the People Democratic Party.
