The 2019/2020 Oyo State Junior Secondary School Three Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE has commenced in the state.

The BECE which was expected to have been earlier conducted was postponed due to coronavirus pandemic.

The stay-at-home directive however affected few students who were not aware of the new timetable for the commencement of the examinations.

A principal at Emmanuel College Junior School, UI area, who did not disclose her name said she made several calls to some parents so as to ensure students were around for the examination.

Radio Nigeria also observed that the students in schools visited not only washed their hands before entering the Examination halls but also put on their mask while arrangement of chairs reflected physical distancing.

A supervisor of the exam at Oba Akinbiyi Grammar school, Ore Meji, Mr Babatunde Alade noted that the exam which recorded seven absent among the students commenced as schedule while adequate provisions were made to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Some students interviewed said the exam was in line with what they have been taught in classes.

“It was simple. I like the questions. They were the things our teachers taught us in the class. I read at home and at school for the examination”, the students said

The examination is expected to be rounded off this week.
