A cross section of parents in Ekiti state has lauded Governor Kayode Fayemi for lifting ban on schools reopening as from next week Monday.

Three of the parents, Mrs Adewumi Ojo, Mrs Yinka Ogunlade and Mr Timothy Ajayi told Radio Nigeria in Ado Ekiti that the Governor decision was a welcome development.

They however appealed to the state government to put in place necessary COVID-19 preventive facilities across public schools.

Radio Nigeria went round some private and public schools in the state capital observed that cutting and clearing of bushes had started in readiness for the planned resumption.

Authorities of some of the schools visited promised to hold meeting of the Parents Teachers Association to deliberate on the resumption.

Governor Kayode  Fayemi had in a statewide broadcast said that students in SS 2, JSS 3 and primary 6 would resume on September 21st,  while those in SS 1, JSS 2, Primary 4 and 5 would return to schools on the 28th of this month.

Similarly, students in JSS 1 and pupils in primary 1 to 3 would resume on the 19th of October as pupils in Kindergarten and Nursery schools were expected to resume on the 2nd of November.

 Also, tertiary institutions in Ekiti are expected to reopen on the 2nd of October.
