Two hundred and seventeen lives have been lost to road traffic crashes between January and August this year in five hundred and forty recorded crashes by the Federal Road Safety Corps, in Ogun State.

Sector Commander of FRSC in the State, Mr. Ahmed Umar made this known at the flag off of the Command end of the year operations in Abeokuta.

According to him, one thousand three hundred and Thirty Eight Persons were however rescued to various hospitals during the same period.

Mr. Umar who called on motorists to always exercise caution while traveling across the road network in Ogun State commended the Federal and State government for various ongoing major constructions.

Lagos, Ogun Zonal Commanding officer, Mr. Imoh Etuk, while speaking called on the Lagos and Ogun state government to ensure the completion of all the on-going road constructions to ease movement of vehicles across the states.

The drivers were advised to stop the habit of driving under the influence of alcohol and hard drugs.

There were goodwill messages from the Nigeria Police, Ogun State Traffic Control and Enforcement agency and other security agencies.

Highlights of the ember month advocacy campaign held at the Asero Motor park and attended by members of various road transport unions include drama presentation and inauguration of Celebrity Special Marshal among others.
