No fewer than 87 suspects who indulged in looting and destruction of property at different places across Osun state last Saturday have been arrested by the state police command. 

The suspects were arrested at different locations together with their loots following series of operations carried out by Joint Task Force and Amotekun Corps.

One of the suspects who was arrested on Saturday following police intelligence,  Aishat Mutiu, a 21 year old, confessed to have influenced people to loot and destroy TUNS farm through her WhatsApp messages.

Addressing journalists on behalf of the state police commissioner , DCP in charge of Criminal Investigative Department, Mr. Adebola Hamzat said whoever found with stolen goods or harbouring anyone with looted items after 72 hours amnesty by the governor would be arrested and prosecuted.

Against this backdrop, Field commander of Amotekun Corps, Comrade Amitolu Shittu threatened that any landlord or neighbor who fails to report any suspected person within the 72 hour amnesty would be treated as accomplice when such looter was finally arrested.

Comrade Amitolu said dangerous weapons displayed by some of the looters and the level of destruction was a pointer that large number of them were criminals.

More than 100 motorcycles, 30 generating sets, 40 refrigerators, 30 grinding machines, 40 sewing machines, furniture, home and Office appliances, food items, among others were displayed for genuine owners to come for collection.
