Many properties were on Monday burnt down at a shopping complex located at Orita-Aje Street along Testing Ground area of Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The fire which reportedly started at about noon lasted about 45 minutes before fire fighters were alerted.

One of the owners of the shops, Mr Saheed Akande said the fire started from one of the shops that were under lock where computer accessories were kept.

Mr Akande stated that but for the timely intervention of fire fighters, the whole 13-shop complex would have been completely razed.

In an interview, the Administrative Officer of the Osun Fire Fighters, Mr Fatai Aremu said the office responded promptly to a distress call by some owners of goods in the shops.

Mr Aremu explained that only four of the shops were completely burnt before the arrival of men of the fire service, while the rest were partially affected by the fire.
