Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Osun State have called on the State Government to give directive on recruiting more staff for the institutions.

The Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke as well as Colleges of Education, Ilesha and Ila made the call during their budget defence before the Joint House Committee on Finance and Education.

They explained that the few staff were being over-stressed in lecturing the students in each department.

Commenting, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Jamiu Olawumi confirmed that the tertiary institutions in the state needed more academic staff to ease the stress already on the few lecturers in the schools.

Mr. Olawumi while soliciting cooperation from the House Committee on Education and the Assembly, said the ministry will work along with the House Committee to develop the state’s education sector.

In his remark, the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr. Taiwo Olodo advised the tertiary institution to block all loopholes in their IGR and ensure judicious use of their budget.
