Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has inaugurated the pioneer 1,500 personnel of Western Security Network of Nigeria codenamed Amotekun in the state.

Inaugurating the Amotekun corps perssonel at the Emmanual Alayande College of Education Sport complex, Oyo

Governor Makinde said from now, there would be immediate local response to any external invasion in the state with the support of the Oyo state security network agency, codenamed Amotekun.

Governor Makinde noted that the Amotekun corps would be deployed across the 351 wards of the state to play significant role in community policing and collaborating with other security agencies in addressing all forms of crime and criminality in Oyo state as well as impact on the quest of regional integration in the South West .

The governor urged the Amotekun corps members to be professional in the discharge of their duties and shun any act of intimidation and harassment of the people 

Earlier, the state chairman of the Western Security Network of Nigeria, Brigadier General Kunle Togun Retired expressed the readiness of the corps to carry out its function diligently on the pursuit for the social economic emancipation of Yorubaland.

Highlight of the ceremony was the March pass from the corps and other display marshal skills 

It would be recalled that Western Security Network of Nigeria codenamed Amotekun was officially launched on January 9, 2020 in the six states of the southwest.
