Ogun State Government has set up a Technical Working Group on Construction Permit to streamline the regulatory process and eliminate administrative bottlenecks to prompt registration of investors.

This is to consolidate on the reduction in the length of days for obtaining a construction permit from 14 to 5 days for simple applications and that of major applications from 21 to 14 days.

Chairman of the Technical Group and Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Olatunji Odunlami who made this known in Abeokuta said the measure would help to improve the State’s rating on the World Bank sub- national index on the ease of doing business.

Mr. Odunlami who explained that the committee was set up by the State Government to address issues affecting private sector investors, said issuance of construction permit was critical to improving the ‘ease of doing businesses’.

In a remark, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Yetunde Dina, urged the committee to come up with ideas to enable the State to compete favourably with other States in the World Bank’s rating.

In separate contributions, Head of the Technical Working Group on Construction Permit, Mr. Rufus Talabi as well as the Secretary and Project Coordinator Ogun State Business Environment Council, Mr. Emmanuel Adeleke expressed optimism that the committee would make necessary input to upgrade the State’s ranking from 4th to 1st position.
