The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Osun State Command says it will embark on routine test for commercial motorcyclists in Osogbo, the state capital to determine those driving under the influence of substances.

The Osun Sector Commander, Mrs  Kudirat Ibrahim gave the information during an interview with Radio Nigeria in Osun State.

Mrs Ibrahim berated the high rate of accidents involving commercial motorcyclists, which she described as often fatal leading to many casualties and death.

She blamed recklessness and driving under the influence of substances as some of the key factors responsible for most of the crashes.

The FRSC commander said once an Okada rider test positive to alcohol or any other substance, his motorcycle would be impounded and he would also be held down until he was certified fit to drive under normal circumstances.

Mrs Ibrahim also raised alarm over what she pointed out as hit and run attitude of some motorists, saying the development has been on the increase of recent.

She blamed pedestrians and some passerby for conspiracy of silence as they often watched the reckless motorists and motorcyclists leave after an incidence without making any attempt to hold them accountable as they only resort to taking pictures of the victims.
