The Ekiti State Government says it will not tolerate mediocrity among teachers across the public Primary and Secondary schools in the state with emphasis for them to be creative, committed and embrace moral excellence.

Governor Kayode Fayemi stated this while presenting appointment letters to the six hundred newly recruited Primary School Teachers held in Ado-Ekiti.

Governor Fayemi said the future of the state was tied to the success of the younger generation more so that the education sector remained the most thriving industry in Ekiti.

Represented by the Deputy Governor Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, Dr Fayemi urged them to always display integrity in the discharge of their duties and shun immoralities which could in turn impact negatively to the system.

He explained that the government was conscious of providing a conducive teaching environment across the schools, hence the need for teachers to reciprocate the gesture.

While speaking on the recruitment process, Governor Fayemi observed that those recruited were based on merit, transparent and devoid of political, religion, gender, background and ethnic colourations.

Governor Fayemi tasked them to take advantage of the five-day training programme and induction service organised for newly recruited teachers to improve on their capabilities.

Professor Akinwumi also appreciated Governor Fayemi for clearing all outstanding counterpart funds owed to UBEC covering 2015 to 2020 and urged the new intakes to purge themselves from acts of laziness, truancy and lateness to duty.

In their goodwill messages, Mr Sola Ajiborode challenged the newly recruited teachers to see their appointments as a treasure that must be protected by doing everything possible in their capabilities to improve the standard of education.

Ekiti State SUBEB Coordinator, Mr Sunday Aremo noted that the passion for improving the education sector and making education more meaningful to the younger generation should be promoted by the newly recruited teachers.
