Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old man, Ubong Akpan for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old daughter.
In a statement in Abeokuta, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Itele Ota divisional headquarters by the victim.
Mr. Oyeyemi explained that the girl reported at the police station that her father had been abusing her sexually since when she was seven years.
The DPO of Itele Ota division, Mr. Monday Unoegbe, who led his men to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested, confessed to the crime, saying that his wife was no longer attractive to him.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edward Ajogun had ordered the immediate transfer of the case to family support unit of Ota area command for further investigation and prosecution, adding that the victim be taken to the hospital for treatment.
