Entrepreneurship remains a key antidote to surmount youth unemployment in the country.

Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Muhammad Abubakar stated this at the Convocation Ceremony of Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, and Moor Plantation, Ibadan.


Dr Abubakar, who was represented by the Regional Director of the ministry in Oyo State, Mrs Oguntuyi Omolara said entrepreneurial skills would foster self-reliance.


She, therefore, urged the graduands of the institution to look beyond white collar job.

In a remark, the Executive Secretary, Agriculture Research Council of Nigeria, ARCN, Professor Garba Sharubutu, represented by the Technical Adviser to the Executive Secretary, Dr Gabriel Malomo, said the council was actively engaged in promoting agriculture and entrepreneurial drive in the country.

In an address of welcome, Provost, Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Dr. Adekoya Owosibo, who chronicled the institution’s genesis, highlighted the strides in fulfilling its mandate, which include producing well trained, self employed and morally sound graduates as well as collaboration with policy makers and research institutes.

Dr Owosibo highlighted the institution’s achievement to include live stock farms, veterinary clinic and diagnostic laboratory, noting that it had produced over six thousand graduands since inception.


Similarly, Chairman, Governing Board of the institution Professor Vincent Odigie, represented by Olori Yemisi Adewole pointed out that the school had equipped the graduands for life after graduation, especially self-employment capacity.

Highlights of the event was the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma to graduands of 2012 to 2020 academic sessions as well as presentation of prizes to deserving graduates.

In attendance were provosts and rectors of sister institutions.
