The Lekan Salami sports complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan venue of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP state congress is agog with party members dressed in customized attires and base cap with pictures of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Accreditation of delegates from across the thirty-three local government areas of the state was ongoing in an orderly manner.
The delegates are expected to converge on their various zonal tents, comprising local governments to cast votes for the candidates of their choice.
In an interview with Radio Nigeria, the outgoing PDP state publicity secretary, Mr Akeem Olatunji expressed optimism that the perfect arrangements would make the outcome of the congress acceptable to all party stakeholders.
Security personnel including police, the Department of State Security, DSS, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and others were strategically positioned in all nooks and crannies of the venue to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.
Meanwhile, the factional group of PDP is currently organizing it’s own Congress at Jogor Centre, Oke-Ado, Ibadan where Security operatives were also on the ground to ensure law and order.
