One of the objectives of the Osun food support scheme is to boost the state’s economy by encouraging the production of indigenous staple foods.

Secretary to the state governor, Mr Wole Oyebamiji stated this while addressing newsmen at the State’s secretariat in Abere after inspecting the 10th tranche of 30,000 bags of 5kg semovita to be distributed to vulnerable households in the state.

Mr Oyebamiji said the government would spare no effort to boost the state’s economy and spread prosperity to residents by supporting indigenous farmers and agro-allied businesses to drive local production.

He revealed the government’s plan to introduce new staples, grown and processed locally to further expand the capacity of local producers and those in the distribution chain.

feedback from beneficiaries

Contributing, Commissioner for special duties, Mr Lekan Badmus stressed that the palliative exercise would continue, even during and after the state’s forthcoming governorship election.
