Oyo State Executive Council has approved a bill seeking to change the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) from technical to a conventional university to be referred to as Ladoke Akintola University (LAU).

This was part of resolutions of the council after its meeting at the Agodi Secretariat,Ibadan.

Speaking with governor’s office correspondents,the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state,Professor Oyelowo Oyewo explained that the proposed amendment would allow insttitution of courses in humanities to qualified candidates as approved by National Universities Commission, NUC.

Professor Oyewo noted that the bill also seek to amend the objectives of LAUTECH to accommodate other field of study to a regular university thereby having more campuses in arts and humanities.

Also speaking,the Commissioner for Information and culture,Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun disclosed government’s plan to extend start them early programme STEP to other six schools in the federal constitutency.

Dr Olatunbosun explained that the agric initiative to catch young people up in agriculture would gulped 1.7 million dollars which would be paid in three tranches.
