One-time Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Mr. Lasun Yusuf, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Labour party to contest the 2022 Osun State gubernatorial seat.
Mr. Yusuf picked the governorship ticket of the Labour party during the primary election of the party held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Press Center, Osogbo.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Lasun Yusuf expressed confidence that he would win the Osun governorship election come July 16, 2022.
He said, “Those that said my impact will not be felt in APC are living in mirage because I have been inactive in politics since 1983. I have contested for election on several occasions especially the election as a federal lawmaker”.
He commended the leadership of the Party for allowing him to pick the ticket and gave assurance that he would run an inclusive government.
“I want to urge our party members to work for my victory because power is not shared freely, I want members to go back to our units and start the work. What I need from you is the ability to deliver between 100 and 120 votes in each unit across the state to win the seat. Osun is made up of 3010 units with an average of 100 voters.” Mr. Lasun added.
Mr. Lasun had emerged second runner-up during the primary election of the All Progressives Congress(APC) after he garnered 460 votes but later dumped the party on March 25, 2022 for the Labour Party.
