Women, especially mothers in Oyo State have been advised to be concerned about the welfare, safety and security of their children.

The wife of Oyo State governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde made this call today while receiving the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko and Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Uche Chukwurah in her office.

Mrs Makinde noted that issues of child abuse, trafficking, and street hawking were becoming a source of concern.

The wife of the governor urged the two security personnel to increase community awareness of these abnormalities in society.

Mrs Makinde promised that her office would partner with the local government chairmen’s wives, local communities, and community leaders on educating them on the dangers inherent in being careless with their wards.

Earlier in her remarks, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko, said security personnel in the state would ensure that the State was safe and secure for people to dwell.

Also in her remarks, Sector Commander, Federal safety corps, FRSC, Mrs Uche Chukwurah enjoined Mrs Makinde to use her pet project and programme to speak with the mothers, young girls and boys as well as fathers who trade on the road of the risk inherent in it. 

Dignitaries at the meeting were Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaja Joke Sanni, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Diaspora Matters, Mrs Bolanle Sarumi among others
