Governor Seyi Makinde has sued for unity and peaceful coexistence among the ethnic groups of Nigeria.

He made the call while inaugurate the new Shasha ultra modern farmers Market, Ibadan.

Governor Makinde, who recounted the crises that led to the destruction of the market, noted that if the situation was not well manage by the state government and relevant stakeholders, the crises would have escalated beyond control across the nation.

He appealed to the market leaders, religious leaders and people of different ethnic background to work together to make the market a symbol of unity.

The Chairman Akinyele Local Government, Taoreed Adedigba while speaking at the event called for continued collaboration among traders in the market, promising to collaborate with Oyo State Government in restoring glory of the pacesetter state. 

The commissioning ceremony was attended by top government functionaries, royal fathers, religious leaders, traders and many others, who declared that infrastructure at the market, would enhance the economy of the state.

It would be recalled that the popular Sasa market was razed on February 12 2021 after an ethnic conflict between settlers in the market.
