Wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde has urged all students in Oyo State, especially those who are preparing to write this year’s West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and National Examination Council (NECO) to be focused and be good ambassadors of the State in their studies by passing the examinations in flying colours among their counterparts across the Nation.

Mrs. Makinde gave the charge at an educational empowerment programme held at the presidential Lodge, Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.

According to her, the motive behind the empowerment programme is to remember some indigent students and assist to help them actualize their dreams of becoming great in life which can be possible through acquiring qualitative education because education is the passport to a brighter future and many higher places.

Mrs. Makinde said that the empowerment programme which was the first of its kind aside the free and quality education given to all children both in primary and secondary schools in the State by Governor Seyi Makinde selected about 100 students randomly across the State.

She noted that the selected student were being empowered and supported with the fund for their WAEC/NECO Examination Fees and compendium materials of past questions for them to to be successful and come out in flying colours in their examinations.

Mrs. Makinde therefore, commended the Seyi Makinde Touching Lives Groups for working behind the scene to make sure the past questions papers that are compiled are real, clean, bold enough and ready for use.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Professor Dawud Sangodoyin, said that the empowerment programme was an important one and a good initiative.

Dignitaries at the event were Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubanwo Adeosun, Head of Service, Mrs. Ololade Agboola, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Rahman Abdul-Roheem, Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaja Faosat Sanni, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Christianah Abioye, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Aminat Atere, and Former SSA to the Governor on Diaspora matters, Mrs. Bolanle Sarumi, among others.
