Governor Seyi Makinde has assured that the proposed Ogbomosho-Iseyin road project would be named after the late former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala upon completion. 

Governor Seyi Makinde, who gave the assurance during the flag-off ceremony of the 76.67km Ogbomosho-Iseyin road project held at Adeniran Memorial Grammar School Ogbomosho, also pledged to continue to fulfill the mandate of his administration to the people.

Radio Nigeria correspondent reports that Kwara State Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulraman, who graced the event as a special guest, flagged off the project in company of Governor Seyi Makinde. 

Delivering a keynote address before the flag-off, Kwara State Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulraman acknowledged that the economic benefit of Iseyin- Ogbomosho road would positively transcend to Kwara state and applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for his ability to think out of the box.

In a remark, the host Governor Seyi Makinde explained that the best way to ensure even development across all zones in the state was to create an effective road network, leveraging on the state’s comparative advantage in agriculture.

In his address of welcome, Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Professor, Daud Sangodoyin noted that the project consisted of 2 lots, the first lot from Iseyin to Apewo while the second lot from Ogbomosho via Fapote to Apewo with a total project sum of 43 billion naira. 

In their various goodwill messages, the former military Governor of Oyo and Ogun state, Major General Oladayo Popoola Rtd, Onpetu of Ijeru kingdom Oba Sunday Oyediran, Hon Shina Peller, lawmaker representing Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa Federal Constituency unanimously lauded the commitment of Governor Seyi Makinde in ensuring infrastructure transformation in Oyo state.
