Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has presented Bond Certificates to retirees under the contributory pension scheme.

Governor Oyetola also presented enabling documents for the implementation of 65 years retirement age and 40 years length of service for Osun state teachers.

Speaking at the event, Governor Oyetola said he would continue to handle salary, payment, and pensioners’ rights without hesitation, being the covenant he made with God, assuring those who were yet to receive that it would soon be their turn.

Governor Oyetola appealed to the retirees to make judicious use of the benefits and key into the state’s health insurance scheme.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Pension Board, Mr. Kayode Aliu thanked the governor for the gesture, noting that the issuance of the bond to those on the contributory pension scheme signaled their journey to receive their retirement benefits.

In a remark, The state NUT Chairman, Alhaji Adekunle Adekomi noted that Osun was the first state to domesticate the extension of service year and retirement age for teachers after the Federal Government expressed teachers’ gratitude to the governor.

It would be recalled that the state government recently announced the release of the sum of Six Hundred Million Naira (N 600,000,000) for the settlement of retired Primary School teachers and Local Government workers.

An additional Five Hundred Million Naira was approved to pay contributory pensions of retired officers of the civil service and parastatals.
