Two hundred widows across all the local government areas in Oyo State have benefitted from the empowerment programme organized by the Office of the Wife of the Governor of the state, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde.
Mrs Makinde during the programme commended traditional rulers, communities, and religious and nongovernmental organizations, for their efforts at making life more meaningful for the widows.
She encouraged the widows not to be discouraged in the face of economic hardship confronting the nation and charged them to keep being at their best in all their endeavors as this would make them fulfilled.
Commissioner for Special Duties Alhaja Faosat Sanni called on the women folk to always support and encourage the widows in society.
Two of the widows, Mrs Abigail Adio and Mrs Theresa Dada advised family members to always render support and be understanding of their plights.
The widows who received food items, gas cylinders, and cash from the governor’s wife thanked her for the gesture.
