Osun State government has announced the appointment of Prince Raphael Oluponle Ademola as the new Aree of Ireeland in the Boripe Local Government Area of the state.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode after the state’s executive council meeting.

The emergence of Prince Ademola followed majority votes in his favour in a meeting of Iree kingmakers.

Prince Ademola’s appointment also followed legal clearance by the Ministry of Justice and approval by the Osun State governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola.

Recall that the seat of Aree became vacant on July 8, 2018, when Oba Jimoh Olayoonu Olatoyan joined his ancestors. 

The statement also announces the appointment of four other monarchs across the state.

This is as Loja Adedapo Samson Adewuyi, the Likure of Odogbo-Ijesha, in Atakumosa East Local Government Area, was elevated to Part II recognised Chieftaincy in accordance with Section 3(a) of the Chiefs, Law, Cap 25, Laws of the State of Osun, 2002.

Prince Adebanjo Adebayo Joseph was announced as the new Alajido of Ajido-Ijesa in Atakumosa East Local Government Area, following a majority decision in his favour by the kingmakers of Ajido-Ijesa in a meeting held on August 9, 2022.

The Alajido stool became vacant on December 15, 2021, when Oba Adebanjo Michael Ayobami joined his ancestors.

Prince Oluwabusola Idowu Oyewale Oloyede was announced as the Alakinlalu of Akinlalu in Ife North Local Government, following his appointment in accordance with the 2005 Alakinlalu of Akinlalu Registered Chieftaincy Declaration.

Prince Abidogun Hamzat Mukahil was also announced as the new Alawuje of Awuje in Iwo West Local Council Development Area, following a majority vote in his favour during the meeting of Awuje kingmakers on September 7, 2022, where he polled five out of eight votes.

The appointments take immediate effect.
