Officers of the Ekiti State Police Command have prevented some suspected thugs attempt to attack Ekiti State House of Assembly complex in Ado-Ekiti this morning.

The suspected hoodlums were said to have attempted to gain access into the Assembly complex with the belief that the police officers who had earlier laid siege there for the past four days had left.

The hoodlums were armed with cutlasses and Jerry cans filled with petrol which they wanted to use to set the building on fire.

The policemen on ground stopped them and recovered the fuel and some of the Cutlasses abandoned by the fleeing suspected arsonists.

Confirming the development, the Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State Police Command, CSP Sunday Abutu, said that the invasion happened in the wee hours of today.

He explained that the development had confirmed the intelligence report received by the Command about a week ago, which necessitated the deployment of additional personnel to secure the Complex.

Csp Abutu said investigation had commenced with the aim of arresting the suspects, urging the public to supply credible intelligence in that regard and to be security conscious.
