Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Mr Olakunle Oluomo, has commended the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures for ensuring seamless passage of bills seeking change of name from Egbado North and Egbado South Local Government Councils.

Mr Oluomo, gave the commendation at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. while presiding over the plenary after resumption from a recess.

He maintained that the Conference of Speakers displayed unity of purpose in changing the name to Yewa North and Yewa South Local Government Councils at the just concluded Fifth Alteration of the nation’s constitution.

The Speaker while congratulating the residents of the local government areas, noted that the change which was long over-due, would further sustain the unique identities of the Local Government Areas.

In another development, the Speaker has directed that necessary administrative mechanisms should be immediately put in place towards ensuring a smooth transition between the present legislature and upcoming legisative session.

He urged the relevant authorities to begin the compilation of hand over reports and documentation of the legislative legacies of the Ninth Assembly in earnest.

Mr Oluomo also informed the Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, to ensure timely preparation and submission of the Year 2023 First Quarter financial reports to the Assembly.
