The topmost priority of the incoming administration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu should be the attainment of national unity.

This was the submission of an Islamic scholar, Sheikh Mohammad Apooyin at the 2023 Ramadan lecture of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, Oyo State Directorate held at the agency’s office in Ibadan.

Delivering the lecture titled “Islam: Searchlight for Good Governance”, Sheikh Apooyin, who is a lecturer of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Ilorin, Kwara state, said newly elected leaders in the country must, on the assumption of office, begin to look inwards to solve the issue of ethnoreligious sentiments.

Sheikh Apooyin said Nigeria was better as one indivisible entity and ethnic or religious sentiments must not be allowed to thrive in the country.

Earlier, in an address of welcome, the Oyo State Director, NOA, Mr Kayode Odedokun also harped on religious tolerance as a panacea to national development.

Mr Odedokun called on the Muslim faithful to use the month of Ramadan to seek the face of God and commit the nation’s affairs to his hands.

Highlights of the programme were special prayers for Nigeria and the NOA, as well as, the recitation of the Holy Qur’an.
