A total of one thousand eight hundred and eight participants have been sworn in as members of the Batch B, Stream II orientation course of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC deployed to Osun State.

Also sworn in were those dislodged from Lagos to Osun State for this year national service.

These comprise five hundred and eighty eight males, one thousand, two hundred and twenty females, with nine hundred dislodged from Lagos State for the purpose of the orientation.

The Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Bola Adepele-Ojo, who was represented by Justice Babafemi Akande, administered the oath of allegiance and service on the prospectus corps members as witnessed by NYSC partners, community leader, service chiefs and the representatives of the Governor.

Addressing the corps members after taken their oath, the Governor of the State, Senator Ademola Adeleke acknowledged what he described as “the bold and notable strides the NYSC had made in contributing to the socio -economic development of the state and the country, especially in the areas of education, rural health, infrastructure and agriculture.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youths Affairs, Mr Moshood Olagunju, the Governor urged them to stay true to the national pledge and oath of allegiance sworn to by conducting themselves in civilized and constitutionally acceptable manner, use the digital and technology space to add value to themselves, others and the nation at large.

He implored them to embrace one another’s differences, make friends and relate freely with one another, cherishing, respecting their differences while diligently discovering one another’s similarity.

Earlier, in his address welcoming the corps members to camp, the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Obim Ndoma charged them to cooperate with officials to make the three weeks orientation a one in a lifetime opportunity to learn skill and other national values.

Mr Ndoma also emphasized the need to make the camp environment clean, observe strict hygiene, while he cautioned them against self medication, but approach the health facility on the camp. 

He advised them to “sustain the relevance of the scheme by committing themselves to hard work, patriotic service and community development service. I urge you to work towards distinguishing yourselves during the service year as the scheme as a system of rewarding hard work and diligence”.
