Wife of the late Oyo state former governor, Dr Florence Ajimobi has described the death of an ace broadcaster, Babatunde Olaniyi popularly known as Ti O Common, who was also a former Special Assistant to Senator Ajimobi, as a rude shock.

According to Mrs Ajimobi, death has always brought sorrow, sadness and deep anguish because of its finality, “this is especially so, with the death of Ti O Common, considering that he still had a lot to contribute to the profession and the society if death had not come calling”, she said.

“Though he died at the most unexpected time, his death came at a painful period especially now, when his professionalism was solely needed.

Though totally unexpected, his death still came as a shock to me and my family considering that we did chat a few months back and I never had any inkling that anything was amiss or death could occur so suddenly”.

Dr Ajimobi said with Olaniyi’s death,” there is no doubt that his immediate and extended families, the entertainment world and people of Oyo State have lost a dedicated professional.

“Fondly called Ti O Common for his invaluable contributions to the broadcasting and entertaining industry in the State, he no doubt has left indelible legacies that will continue to live with us”.

“He was an embodiment of humility in his lifetime. My heartfelt condolences go to his family, his wife and children, close associates including those left behind by his departure.

“Though no soothing words can ease the pains of his passing, let us take comfort in his good deeds which are indelibly written in the heart of the people who have had the opportunity of meeting with him in his lifetime or listened to him during one of his programmes on Radio.

The ace broadcaster died on Thursday, 13th of September, 2023, after a brief illness.
