Oyo State Government has expended about two point eight billion naira on the fight against Covid-19 in the state.

The State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akinola Ojo made this known in Ibadan while briefing newsmen after the weekly Executive Council Meeting.

Mr Ojo noted that the cash received from well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations was still intact in the state endowment account in line with probity, transparency and accountability. 

Mr Ojo explained government has received 1.177billion naira as donations including cash of 378million naira, pointing out that the state has not gotten the 100 million naira promised by Nigeria Centre for Disease and Control, NCDC, on Coronavirus pandemic.

The commissioner, however, noted that 370 million naira was spent to refurbish and equip Olodo Infectious Disease Center while 118 million naira was used to support University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.

Mr Ojo further revealed that a total of 156 million naira would soon be given to health workers in the state as hazard allowance with fifteen thousand per person.
