American Rapper shot Dead in Houston

American rapper, Kirshnik Ball popularly known as Takeoff, a member of the hip-hop trio, ‘Migos’ which includes Quavo and Offset, has been shot dead in Houston.

TMZ reported that Takeoff and Quavo were playing dice at the bowling alley when an altercation broke out someone started shooting and a bullet hit Takeoff.

The fatal incident happened early Tuesday morning and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

In a series of tweets, the Houston police confirmed the incident but did not give the identity of the deceased.

The police said, “Downtown officers are on a shooting at 1200 Polk. One victim was found deceased upon arrival.  “Two other victims were taken in private vehicles to hospitals.

“Media partners, we are not releasing an identity of the deceased victim until his family is notified & ID is verified by Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

“Any updates on the incident will be posted here.”

However, TMZ confirmed that Takeoff was deceased in the incident.

Takeoff was the youngest member of Migos. Quavo was his uncle, and Offset his cousin.

Ifeanyi’s Death: Police Arrest Davido’s Domestic Workers

The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday said eight domestic workers were brought in for questioning in connection with the death of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the development to newsmen, said the domestic workers’ narrations would assist the command in ascertaining the circumstances surrounding the death of the three-year-old boy.

Hundeyin, however, said anyone not found culpable would be released immediately, adding the ones found culpable of negligence would be held back to assist the command in the ongoing investigation.

Hundeyin said, “His death is confirmed. His (Davido’s) domestic workers have been brought in for questioning and anybody found not culpable will be allowed to go immediately.

“About eight of them were brought in to narrate their version of what happened to assist us in getting what really happened.

“At the end of their narrations, whoever is found not guilty of negligence or not culpable in any way will be allowed to go.

“Anybody found culpable will stay back to assist us in further investigation.

Domestic workers are about eight that were brought in.

According to the report, Ifeanyi reportedly drowned in a swimming pool at his father’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State.

In a bid to revive him, the three-year-old victim, after being pulled out of the swimming pool, was reportedly rushed to a hospital in the Lekki area of the state, where he was confirmed dead by one of the doctors on duty.

The victim’s family had yet to react to the tragic development as of the time this report was filed.

However, since the news of Ifeanyi’s rumoured death became public knowledge, Nigerians, particularly entertainment lovers, had been outraged and traumatized by the development.

A number of celebrities have posted cryptic messages that appear to confirm the death of Ifeanyi. Some of these are comedians Ayo Makun and Lasisi Elenu, and Radio personality Daddy Freeze among others.

Makun, in an Instagram post early Tuesday, wrote, “The death of a child is unnatural, unfair, and tragic, this hit me so bad.”

Daddy Freeze, who went live on Instagram in the early hours of Tuesday morning said, “When the person you love is someone involved it becomes a heavy emotional burden. I am not confirming anything but bear with me I will not be live tonight.”

Lasisi Elenu also posted, “Father heal your children’s hearts from this pain, strengthen them in such a dark and hurtful time oh Lord.”

Nollywood Actress, Rosemary Afuwape, said on her Instagram story, “My heart can’t take this. This is so painfully unbearable. Chioma and Davido please accept my condolences. No amount of words can comfort your heart. I am truly sorry for your loss.”

As of 1.28am, news of Ifeanyi’s rumoured death was the most trending topic on Twitter.

The rumoured death, however, emanated from a now-deleted post from actress, Eniola Badmus, late Monday.

While reacting to Badmus’ post,  Nigerians criticized her for leaking such sensitive information to the public.

Actor Kunle Afod, wife Part Ways

Yoruba actor, Kunle Afod, and his wife, Desola, have parted ways.

Desola made the announcement in a terse message on her Instagram page on Tuesday.

She wrote, “The good news you wanna hear. I left Kunle Afod.”

Desola had celebrated Kunle on his birthday on Monday where she prayed for him.

She had referred to him as the father of their four children.

Celebrating the actor, she wrote, “Happy Birthday Daddy Omiayo, Desire, Imodola, Yiyenitemi. May God bless you on your birthday and always.”

Earlier checks showed that she had earlier unfollowed him on Instagram.

In 2018, Desola had caused a major commotion on social media when she cried out that actresses would not allow her and the children to enjoy her husband.

Sharing on social media, the mother of four boys wrote, “For all the actresses and upcoming actresses that have intimacy with Baba Omiayo, I dare you all to be in the same location with him. Then you will see the relaxed Desola. Just because I have been quiet.”

The actor had kept mum on his wife’s allegations, assuring that his marriage was fine.

Desola and Kunle have four sons together. The actor, however, had earlier welcomed a daughter with an ex-lover before his marriage to Desola.

Governor Abiodun urged youths to be patient and gradually develop themselves to stardom and commended the musician for his consistency for over 50 years.

Governor Abiodun, who appointed Alhaji Ayinla as the Music Ambassador of Ogun State, said that his genre of music was promoting the rich culture of Yoruba and Africans as a whole.

According to reports, Rico Swavey was involved in a car crash on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 and had been on life support before his death.

Alex Unusual tweeted a photo of the deceased and said, “This was not what we agreed Rico. Rest In Peace #ricoswavey.”

Bakre shared a photo of them together in the Big Brother House and said, “We lost him. But thanks a lot guys. God knows best.”

Bimbo Ademoye Speaks On Debate Role Garnered in Anikulapo

Actress Bimbo Ademoye has addressed the controversy surrounding the ‘Arolake character’ that she played in Kunle Afolayan’s new film Anikulapo.

It would be recalled that Bimbo Ademoye has become a trending topic on social media since the release of the Anikulapo movie on the 30th of September 2022.

While some described BImbo Ademoye’s performance in the movie as “challenging and “well interpreted”, some believed that Arolake deserved more and was not smart enough because she let herself become a victim instead of using the magical powder she gave to Saro after he “betrayed” her.

Responding to the different schools of thought, Bimbo took to Instagram hours ago to engage her followers in light banter, asking them to share thoughts about which character was actually the victim.

She wrote: “Guys quick one, who is the victim? Saro or Arolake? Because I’m seeing some tweets saying fear women. Fear women, fear women how? So over to you guys, if you feel Arolake is the bad guy please comment ‘fear women’. If you think it’s Saro please comment ‘men are scum.’”

As expected, several celebrities and fans stormed the comment section of the post to share their thoughts. While some supported Arolake, others threw their weight behind Saro.

Media personality Toke Makinwa wrote: “You dey trust man? Adam? Adam?”

Responding to her statement, Kunle Remi wrote: “Adam no trust Eve? No be there wahala start?”

“Men are scum, Yoruba demon oshi,” actor Mofe Duncan added.

Comedian Mr Macaroni wrote: “Arolake wise, Saro overwise.”

Actress Idia Asien wrote: “Fear men but you shouldn’t have poured the powder away just keep it for yourself. Don’t worry we are looking for Saro, they didn’t beat him well in the film.”

A follower named Fridayy usual wrote: “Saro is the bad egg here, he’s ungrateful. And before anyone comes to say what about arolake, think she explained to saro that she doesn’t find happiness with the king and to think the king married her at an early age added to it.

“So she definitely wanted to start a new happy life with saro, but saro was too promiscuous and wants to enjoy all opportunities that come his way. Even when arolake accepted him to marry two wives he still went ahead for the king’s daughter, habaaaaaa!!! that was extreme. He forgot soo fast arolake made him and so, therefore, he got destroyed by her too.”

Anikulapo is the story of Saro, (played by Kunle Remi) a travelling clothes weaver, who was beaten to death for having an affair with the Alaafin’s youngest wife named Arolake played by Bimbo.

A mystical bird brings him back to life, leaving behind a gourd with the power to raise the dead.

Coolio Dies at 59

Coolio, an American rapper, is dead.

 The rapper who achieved enormous success in the 90s was visiting a friend late Wednesday afternoon when he passed away.

Coolio’s longtime manager, Jarez, says Coolio went to the bathroom at his friend’s house, but when he didn’t come out after a while … the friend kept calling for him, and eventually went in and found Coolio lying on the floor.

Newsmen learned that Coolio died Wednesday in Los Angeles learned.

The friend was reported to have called EMTs, who arrived and pronounced Coolio dead on the scene.

 Jarez told newsmen that the paramedics suspected he suffered cardiac arrest but the official cause of death has not been determined.

Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., came up on the L.A. rap scene in the late 80s, but blew up nationally in 1995 when he released “Gangsta’s Paradise” for the soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer film, “Dangerous Minds.”

In the meantime, police have opened an investigation into the cause of his death, however, sources say the coroner will make a final determination following an autopsy.

He was aged 59.

How to Make Afia Efere in One Hour

Afia Efere is an oilless Efik soup that is guaranteed to wow whoever eats it.

 This soup is known popularly as white soup although it doesn’t look white in colour and uses fewer ingredients than its Igbo twin, Ofe Nsala.

 It is a combination of spices used for traditional ceremonies.

 Goat meat, smoked fish and stockfish bring out the best of it.

INGREDIENTS

Goat meat

  • sunnewsonline
  • 247food.ng

Assorted meat

1 medium-sized smoked fish

Yam

2 calabash nutmegs (ehu or ehuru)

3 pieces of uda – optional

1 fresh Cameroon pepper

1 tsp uziza seeds

Uziza leaves, chopped

Uyayak pod (Aidan fruit), rinsed thoroughly and divided into two

3 tbsps ground crayfish

Dry pepper – to taste

2 stock cubes

Salt – to taste

Recipe

Boil goat meat and assorted meat with smoked fish until soft.

Prepare your spices (calabash nutmegs, uda, uziza seeds and half of the uyayak) blend or grind in a dry mill into an almost-smooth powder.

Add some water to the ground spices, and filter using a fine mesh sieve.

Peel and wash your yam and cook until soft.

Add extra water, crayfish, dry pepper and the remaining half of uyayak to the pot of meat and bring the contents to a boil.

Taste for salt and season if necessary to your taste.

Add the ground spices in tablespoons, tasting as you go so that you don’t add too much.

Turn down the heat to simmer so that the spices can permeate the meats.

Make smooth pounded yam by mashing the boiled yam traditionally or using a food processor or blender.

Turn up the heat on your meal and add the pounded yam in medium-sized balls.

Once the yam has dissolved completely, taste for seasoning and salt again and readjust if necessary.

Add your freshly-chopped uziza leaves, stir and take off the heat.

Serve with pounded yam.

We think we can help him walk away from the drugs and alcohol.
We believe we can help him get over his commitment issues and aim for a stable future with us.
We trust that we can get rid of the emotional baggage that he has been carrying for years.
We attract these men because we believe they need us.
And to leave them would be selfish, insensitive and ruthless.

The sad news is, that we constantly blame ourselves when they don’t change. Every time they fail us, we think it’s because we failed them.

Their hold on us becomes stronger; they keep us around knowing they have nothing to offer.

Her fiance, Samuel also announced the engagement on his Instagram account.

“Rejoice Iwueze you’re my testimony and I’ll never lose you,” he wrote.

Many expressed mixed feelings about the news as they questioned when they would also get married. Many lamented how they are the same age or a bit older than her yet are still single.

It would be recalled that Rejoice’s elder sister, Favour Iwueze married Obinna, a music producer, in 2018.

The couple welcomed their first child in October 2019.

Rejoice and her sibling’s Favour, Joshua, Best, Caleb and Wonderful became popular after the release of ‘Joy Joy Joy’.

Police Apprehend Rapper for Assault

The Lagos State Police Command on Friday morning arrested popular rapper, Henry Zamani, better known as Ice Prince, for an alleged assault on a Police Officer who stopped him for driving without license plates.

The Lagos Police Command spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a tweet, alleged that the rapper threatened to throw the officer into a river at the point of arrest.

The PPRO, who posted a photo of the rapper in handcuffs, said he will be arraigned today.

Loaf it out with Date, Walnut Loaf

Date Walnut Loaf is very moist with bursts of sweet chopped dates and crunchy walnuts.

Makes for a great gift idea, and can be easily frozen for later too!

Dates are one of those things that you either love or hate.

There seems to be no middle ground when it comes to dates.

I’m sure if you lean more toward the hate side, this Date Walnut Loaf will change your mind!

They’re not pretty to look at, so I completely understand the aversion for some.

But, not all food needs to be pretty to be tasty!

Tea? Any strong tea will do; try to avoid flavoured teas.

Sip it and keep it hot!

INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO PREPARE THIS RECIPE

The following is a list of the ingredients needed to prepare this recipe. For exact amounts and measurements, refer to the printable recipe card located near the bottom of this post.

Dried Dates –

Butter – You can use either salted or unsalted butter.

It doesn’t make much of a difference in this recipe.

Just be sure that the butter is softened and at room temperature.

Pinch of Salt

Baking Soda – This baking ingredient, which is activated by liquid, helps to leave or rise.

Brown Sugar – It has way more flavour than regular white sugar! And, in this recipe, brown sugar helps to keep the loaf moist and soft.

Vanilla Extract – Probably the most common extract and the most common flavouring used in cakes and cookies.

Flour – No need for anything special.

Just use regular all-purpose flour. I have not tried this recipe with any other type of flour.

Baking Powder – This is used to increase the volume of the batter and to add texture as well.

Nutmeg – Nutmeg is a seed that comes in whole or ground form. 

It is a key ingredient in many baked goods and is essential to anything eggnog-related.

Eggs – Whenever you set out to bake, make sure your eggs are at room temperature too – just like your butter!

Walnuts – Walnuts have a mild, buttery flavour which is why they are perfect for cookies and cakes. 

When they are baked, they soften slightly, which makes them easier to slice through too, so they won’t ruin those perfect slices of cake.

 Place dates and margarine in a bowl with boiling water and baking soda.

Gently mix with a wooden spoon until margarine has melted and dates are plumped up. Let cool to room temperature, for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Line a 2-pound loaf pan with parchment paper.

Combine flour, brown sugar, and walnuts in a separate bowl. Add to the bowl with the date mixture. Mix well with a wooden spoon.

 Add egg and mix in.

Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan.

Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean, 60 to 75 minutes.

 Let cool on a wire rack.

  • 80 gm walnuts – chopped fine

  • 1 cup milk – mixed with 2 tsp corn flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 brown sugar

How to Make Date and Walnut Pie

Mix the pastry ingredients into the dough and line the pie dish.

Prick the shell with a fork and bake in a preheated oven at 160 C-325 F for 15-20 minutes.

Remove from oven and cool.

Mix milk mixture, butter, sugar, and brown sugar and blend well.

Cook on a slow fire till well blended

Stir in walnut and dates and place the mixture in the baked pie shell.

Bake at 160 C-325 F for 45 minutes or till set.

Funke Akindele: Estranged Husband Felicitate Her on Birthday

Abdulrasheed Bello aka Jjc Skillz, a music producer and estranged husband of Funke AKindele has melted hearts with his birthday surprise for her.

Posting a video collage comprising of his favourite moments of Funke and their twin boys, with a soundtrack of a professing love song, the music producer wrote “Happy birthday my darling mama ibeji, I pray for our children to embody the goodness of God and be a blessing to generations. Today is your day to celebrate and live to the fullest, long life and prosperity.”

The thoughtful act has since sparked emotional reactions from their fans on social media with many praying they resolve their conflict and get back together.

Nollywood actress and politician Funke Akindele is a year older today and unlike the previous years when she celebrated with a birthday shoot involving her husband, Mr Bello aka JJC Skillz, this year she settled for a lone one.

Taking to Instagram, the mother of two boys and gubernatorial aspirant of Lagos state, Funke Akindele shared stunning photos of herself as she wished herself a happy birthday.

Funke assured herself that God wouldn’t forsake her.

“Oluwaseun! Happy birthday to you OLUFUNKE AKINDELE!! The Lord will never forsake you in Jesus’s name! AMEN!!”.

It would be recalled that six years after their marriage and several rumours of separation, Mr Bello finally confirmed their divorce in an early Thursday morning Instagram post.

The music producer and filmmaker revealed this on his Instagram page where he wrote, “Dear Friends and family, I need to let you know that Funke and I have separated. While it lasted, we shared many things and have created two beautiful children.

“The last two years have been tough for us. I have tried my best to fix things, but I believe it is beyond repair. 3 months ago and at Funke’s insistence, I moved out of the house and, apart from AMVCA, have not been able to get Funke to sit down amicably to discuss the future of our relationship.”

“I’m making this announcement, so the public knows we are both pursuing separate lives. We still have issues that need to be addressed, such as the custody and wellbeing of our children, which is paramount, and business interests that need to be disentangled, but I do not doubt that these will be resolved one way or the other.”

Get Familiar with Plantain Moi-Moi

Plantain Moi Moi is one delicious meal you should try this week. 

Plantain Moi Moi also known as Ukpo Ogede to some ethnic groups is one of the Nigerian plantain recipes prepared with (over-ripe) or ripe plantains.

With this food, you can avoid food wastage by utilizing the (ripe) over-ripe plantain instead of throwing them away.

Ingredients

1.2 pieces of overripe or (ripe) plantain

100g plantain flour

 1-2 cooking spoons of palm oil

1 teaspoon ground crayfish

1 onion

Pepper and Salt (to taste)

 1 seasoning cube

Warm water

Uma (Moi-Moi) leaves

Directions

1. Put the plantain flour in a bowl, add a small quantity of water and mix till you get a medium consistency.

2. Wash, peel and cut the overripe plantain into small pieces.

3. Grind the crayfish, cut the onions and pepper into small pieces.

4. Blend the overripe plantain pieces, plantain flour batter, onions, crayfish, pepper, and stock cube with just enough water to allow the blades of the blender to move.

5. Pour the smooth blend into a sizeable bowl.

6. Add salt and palm oil. Mix thoroughly till well combined.

7. Set a small quantity of water in a pot to boil. When the water boils, place a base for the Plantain Moi Moi wraps into the pot. This can be scrap pieces of aluminium foil, a stainless steel stand or leaf stalks from the Uma leaves.

8. Scoop the mix into folded Uma leaves, just as you would with beans Moi Moi.

9. Gently place the wraps in the pot of boiling water and cook for 20-25 minutes.

Add water along the way if necessary.

10. Leave to cool down completely to set before serving.

“Jesus! somebody’s daughter-Tiwa Savage Bashed over Outfit”

Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage got Nigerians talking again after a video of her stepping out to a function in a revealing dress, putting her almost unclad.

The music star in London for her Water and Garri album tour held an after-party to celebrate her sold-out show.

As usual, Tiwa Savage attended in the raunchy dress she wore to the club.

The singer and mother of one was spotted in a black dress which exposed her derriere.

Nigerians were left displeased with her outfit.

Mamy used the opportunity to mock her for claiming she was Jesus’ daughter in her hit song, Somebody’s Son.

This isn’t the first time Tiwa Savage has received backlash for provocative outfits.

In June, Uche Maduagwu slammed Tiwa Savage for her poor choice of outfits.

In photos shared online by actress Eniola Badmus, the singer was spotted all cladded in a yellow suit but what caught the attention of many was how her inner wear, was seductively flaunted through the outfit.

As always, Uche Maduagwu joined thousands of Nigerians, calling her attention to her raunchy mode of dressing.

Uche slammed her for not caring about her son’s feelings over her dress sense.

He described it as selfishness to not care about her son’s feelings when she was criticized.

The actor avowed that there are some attires respected African mum’s shouldn’t be seen on even if you don’t care about what people would say.

It would be recalled that Tiwa Savage had caused a stir online as she made a shocking revelation about her hit song, Somebody’s Son.

The mother of one shared more details about the topped charting song during a concert in Lagos.

While many assumed Somebody’s Son from her album, Water & Garri, was a relationship song centred on finding one’s partner, Tiwa Savage proved us wrong.

She said that she was referring to Jesus Christ.

During her performance, Tiwa Savage paused to share the inspiration behind the song.

She baffled many when she stated that she was referring to Jesus Christ by emphasising how everyone was looking for him.

“I am going to tell you guys this story; when I did this song, yeah, a lot of people were like “, this is a sure hit, but only girls are going to sing this song, guys are not going to sing it. And they were like, Tiwa, you are taking a risk by making it your first single.

I said to them don’t worry, one day, I am going to tell this story. You see, somebody’s son I was talking about is actually Jesus Christ. For real, so whether you’re a man or woman, we are all looking for that somebody’s son, right”.

Renowned Designer Dies @ 84

Japanese fashion designer, Issey Miyake, whose global career spanned more than half a century, has died aged 84.

Issey Miyake, who is renowned for his avant-garde designs and scent, established a global fashion brand by creating the renowned black turtleneck sweaters worn by Steve Jobs.

Throughout his lengthy career, Miyake was renowned for using both classic and contemporary fashion techniques.

According to Japanese media, a private funeral for him has already been held after his death on Friday from liver cancer.

Miyake, who was born in Hiroshima in 1938, was just seven years old when an American atomic bomb decimated the city. Three years later, his mother succumbed to radiation exposure.

In 2009, he stated in a New York Times opinion post, “When I close my eyes, I still envision things no one should ever experience. I prefer to think about things “that no one should ever experience”

Abducted Actors Regain Freedom

The Actors Guild of Nigeria has confirmed the release of two of its members, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel (Agbogidi), who were abducted in Enugu State.

In a release shared by Monalisa Chinda Coker, the Guild’s Director of Communication, on Wednesday, the association informed the public that the abductors were “touched by the spirit of God” and set the Thespians free.

The statement read in part, “This is to inform the public that the kidnapped actors, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, have been released, unhurt. The elated National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ejezie Rollas, announced their release by the abductors who were touched by spirit of God to set them free and unharmed.

“The guild has arranged for medical checks and psychological support for the victims.

“On behalf of their families, the National President expressed our heartfelt appreciation to the Nollywood industry and Nigerians at large for the support and prayers during this trying period.

“He urged members to be security conscious on and off movie sets and always take precautionary measures on their security at all times.”

Okereke and Agbodigidi were declared missing on Saturday when family members could not reach them after working on a film set.

Their abductors afterwards reached out, demanding a ransom of $100,000, which the Guild’s National President, Ejezie Rollas, stated could not be raised, in an interview with Sunday Scoop.

According to Rollas, while a sum of N1.2million was raised, the abductors mocked their efforts.
