The Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has signed the 2020 revised budget of over ninety one billion naira into law.

The budget tagged “Budget of Deliverable” had over fifty nine billion naira as recurrent expenditure, while the capital expenditure stood at thirty-two billion naira.

Governor Fayemi explained that the revised budget became necessary due to the pandemic which is ravaging the world economy.

He noted that the budget was reduced by thirty five percent to focus on the five point agenda of his administration.

The Ekiti State 2020 budget which was already signed into law on the 19th of December 2019 was formerly stood at one hundred and twenty four billion naira and reduced to ninety one billion naira due to the current economic realities.

Governor Seyi Makinde has assented 2020 budget of over Two Hundred and Thirteen billion naira for Oyo State.

The signing of the budget was held at the Executive Chamber, Governor’s Office Secretariat,Ibadan.

 Correspondent Iyabo Adebisi reports that the budget was increased by four point four billion naira against the two hundred and eight point eight billion naira proposed by the governor last month .

The recurrent expenditure stands at one hundred and ten point four (110.4) billion naira while the capital expenditure got one hundred and three point three billion naira. 

Speaking at the event, Governor Makinde said the 2020 budget represented the wishes and aspirations of people aimed at accelerating development of the state.

Governor Makinde lauded the House for the prompt scrutiny and passage of the appropriation bill into law, pointing out that the development would make it easier for the Executive to implement and monitor the budget.

Speaker of the House, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin said the increase in the budget was to take care of development of rural communities .

Earlier, Governor  Makinde had inaugurated sixty-eight local government caretaker chairmen across the 33 councils and 35 Local Council  Development Areas in the state.

The governor said the step became imperative in order not to create a vacuum  in governance. 

He tasked the newly inaugurated chairmen on the need to boost the economy through agriculture and trade stressing that micro business was also a pivotal to economic development.
