Justice Bayo Taiwo of  Oyo State High Court, Ring – Road, Ibadan has adjourned till January 22, 2025, for the continuation of the hearing in the ongoing trial between the state and former Chairman of the Park Management System, PMS in the state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi also known as Auxiliary.

Justice Taiwo adjourned the matter because the defence Counsel to the defendant, Mr Olalekan Ojo, SAN, objected to a police officer being called to give evidence.

The Director of Public Prosecution, Mr S. O . Adeoye, who appeared for the state, had called Inspector Innocent Agede from the Oyo State Police Command Monitoring Unit, Eleyele, Ibadan, to give evidence.

Mr Ojo said the state’s counsel did not serve him with the summary of the evidence.

He said the witness called did not have a statement or a summary of his evidence, as mandatorily required by section 380 subsection four of the Administration of Criminal Justice of Nigeria  2016.

Alhaji Lamidi is facing trial on seventeen counts of charges of armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, and possession of firearms, including one AK-47 assault rifle.

The case is based on offences allegedly committed on the 29th of May, 2023, at the residence of the state governor, Seyi Makinde at Ikolaba, Ibadan.

Alhaji Lamidi had pleaded not guilty to the 17-count charge read to him on November 27th, 202

The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State command has paraded sacked chairman of the State Park Management System, PMS, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, known as Auxiliary. 

 Lamidi who was earlier declared wanted on the 2nd June, 2023 for offences ranging from murder, attempted murder, arms dealing, armed robbery and Kidnapping, was paraded at the Police headquarters Eleyele Ibadan by the Commissioner of Police in Oyo state, Mr Adebola Hamzat. 

 “Recall that this declaration was made in furtherance of a well-coordinated intelligence-led raid between 30th -31st of May 2023 in line with standard Operating procedure, where a total of (78) Seventy-Eight suspects, comprising (49) Forty-Nine Male and (29) Twenty–Nine Female suspects were arrested with some of them serving different prison terms presently” the Police boss stated.

 Mr. Hamzat said further that “So also, exhibits recovered in his possession at his Diamond Hotel residence around Alakia-Isebo Egbeda under Egbeda Local Government Area at the time include; (2) Two SMG riffles with two magazines (1) One AK-47 Rifle (1) One Pump action riffle (9) Nine locally made pistols (2) Two English pistol with magazine (70) Seventy rounds of Ak-47 Ammunitions (338) Three hundred and thirty-eight pieces of live cartridges (62) Sixty-two expended (13) Thirteen pieces of 9-mm Ammunition (9) Nine Jack knives (3) Three axes (400) Four hundred pieces of long cutlasses (1) One Hammer (1) One Walkie-Talkie Device (1) One Army Camouflage Jacket (1) One Bullet Proof Jacket with Inscription “Kiriji heritage defence’’ (3) Three International Passports A Huge Cache of Criminal Charms (1) One Damaged Handcuff (3) Three Long Swords (3) Three Portrait pictures (1) One Traditional Crown and Staff” 

The Police commissioner noted that the command commenced discreet intelligence-led search for the sacked PMS chieftain with the help of technology, collaborative efforts with sister agencies and Community Policing, in which many locations were identified, traced and combed for months until his recent arrest and would be charged to court for offences committed.

The sacked chairman of the disciplinary committee of the Park Management System, PMS, in Oyo State, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, has said the police cannot declare him wanted.

Better known as Auxiliary, Lamidi who has been declared wanted by the police for alleged gun-running, said Govrnor ‘Seyi Makinde, governor remains his destiny helper.

He added that he is committed to peace, noting that he would abide by whatever decision the governor takes on transport unions.

Reacting to the allegations of violence allegedly perpetrated by his boys few days ago in Ibadan, Auxiliary who spoke on Saturday morning from his hideout on a live radio programme in Ibadan, said, he is a peace-lover, who could not have turned the state to a theatre of war over the dissolution of the PMS by the governor.

On the position of the Oyo State Police that declared him wanted, Auxiliary said, such declaration was not meant for him, adding that: “When I’m not a fool, how could I have hidden or stockpiled those weapons at my residence?”

He, however, warned his boys not to forment trouble or engage in any act of violence in Ibadan and other parts of the state, saying they should desist from such plans.

The former PMS boss added that no individual, no matter how highly influential he or she is, is bigger than government.

He spoke glowingly about Governor Makinde and his ally, Otunba Seye Famojuro, declaring that both are his benefactors.

Auxiliary, however, promised to comply and cooperate with the reform and integration of other driver unions into the PMS, stating that if the new reform doesn’t favour him, he would accept the outcome.

Nigeria Police, Oyo State Command has declared Lamidi Mukaila, also known as Auxiliary, wanted.

This is contained in a statement e-signed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer SP Osifeso Adewale.

The statement urges anyone with useful information that will lead to the arrest of Auxiliary to contact the state’s Police Command.

The General Public particularly good citizens of Oyo State is hereby notified that LAMIDI MUKAILA AKA AUXILIARY ‘M’ whose Photograph appears above is wanted by the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command in connection with cases of; Attempted Murder, Causing Grevious Harm, Arms Dealing , Murder, Armed Robbery within Oyo State and

Kidnapping at Oke-ogun and Ibarapa axis of the State.

2. Lamidi Mukaila is an indigene of Oyo State. He was born on the 9th, January 1962 (61yrs) and dark in complexion.

3. He is about 1.55m (5ft1), Married and speaks Yoruba & English Language moderately.

4. His last known address is Diamond Hotel, Alakia-Isebo, Egbeda LGA.

Earlier, the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command had raided the house of the former PMS leader Lamidi Mukaila..

Police operatives discovered different ammunition, over four hundred cutlasses, various knives, pistols, charms and some cartridges at Auxiliary’s house during the raid. 

Other crime-related ammunition found in his possession included beaded crown, horse whip, staff allegedly belong to auxiliary, axes, international passport, axes, handcuffs as well as mobile phone.

Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command has foiled an attempt by members of the recently dissolved park management system, PMS, to cause mayhem in the state.

In the process, seventy eight suspects were arrested and paraded while cache of firearms, charms and over Three million naira were recovered from the arrested suspects. 

Parading the suspects at Police headquarters Eleyele Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Adebowale Williams said the Force while acting on intelligence report, was able to arrest some of the PMS members led by one Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi popularly known as Auxillary.

The Commissioner of Police explained that a strategic intelligence raid was conducted in a Hotel around Alakia-Isebo in Egbeda Local Government, and Seventy-Eight suspected hoodlums, who had perfected plans to unleash mayhem at major parts of the metropolis were arrested in possession of sophisticated firearms, (724) Seven Hundred and Twenty-four Cartridges, assorted charms, (33) Thirty-three Mobile Phones, and a cash sum of about (#3,450,000) Three Million Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira Only.

“Worthy of note is that, though the PMS Chieftain was able to escape with some of his boys during the gun duel with the Police, however a member of the group was neutralized in a gun duel with the Police.”

“Recall that the same group was alleged to be responsible for the attack on (14) Fourteen members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) along Agodi  axis under Ibadan North-East LGA enroute the venue of yesterday’s Inaugural celebrations.”

The police commissioner said, in line with Standard Operational Procedure, all recovered items were properly documented, packaged and recorded for onward forensics analysis and for evidence purposes in accordance with the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 and all other relevant laws.

Mr Adebowale reiterated his unwavering commitments towards tackling criminal rascality, hooliganism and blatant disregard for the rule of law.

He therefore enjoined residents of the state to cooperate with the Police with the provision of useful information to help apprehend the recently sacked PMS chieftain.

He also noted that residents would in the coming days, witness high patrols, coordinated stop and search along designate points across the nook and cranny of the State.

The Commissioner of Police explained that he had directed Area Commanders to personally lead convoy patrols and rings of supervision of Police operatives within their respective areas of jurisdiction.

“Thus far, the location and environs is actively monitored with ample deployment of Police Operatives to boost the confidence of residents against any fear of molestation or harassment as they go about their legitimate businesses.”

Oyo State Park Management System has called for investigation into alleged kidnap attempt on the Chairman Disciplinary Committee of the state PMS, Mr. Mukaila Lamidi popularly called Auxiliary at his office, Podo, Ibadan.

Speaking with newsmen in Ibadan, the General Secretary of the Oyo Park Management System, PMS, Oluwatomiwa Omolewa narrated how his men foiled what he called a kidnap attempt on the Chairman, Disciplinary Committee of the body, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi.

Mr. Omolewa who spoke in company of the Deputy Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the PMS, Alhaji Jimoh Tajudeen, said the PMS members suspected those who invaded its headquarters at Podo on Monday 28/6/2021 as they could not identify themselves as police.

According to him, the team claimed they came from Abuja which made them to reach out to the Police authorities in Oyo State to confirm if the team came from Eleyele State Headquarters.

He said since they did not see anyone from the Police Command, they suspected foul play and requested further details which they could not produce and dismissed their request to have Auxiliary follow them.

On whether the incident could have anything to do with the Iwo Road incident which claimed the life of Rahmon Azeez, the PMS Secretary said that the Police has already arrested suspects in that case and that none of the suspects confessed that they were sent by Auxiliary.

The PMS scribe said the PMS strongly suspected that some vested interests were behind the plot to kidnap Auxiliary and rope him into devilish agenda adding that the evil plot would not materialize because Auxiliary would continue to be on the side of the law.

Transportation

The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has inaugurated the newly appointed Motor Park Managers to oversee the affairs of motor parks in the 33 Local Government Areas of the state.

Inaugurating the Motor Park Managers and its disciplinary committee on behalf of the Governor, the State Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transportation, Professor Raphael Afonja, said the appointments take effect immediately.

Professor Afonja noted that the development was a radical change from the NURTW Architecture as the funds generated by the motor park managers will be remitted directly into the state account.

The event which took place at the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructures and Transportation, Secretariat, Ibadan, had in attendance the appointed Park managers, and their executives.

Former chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Oyo State chapter, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, was also inaugurated as the Chairman, Oyo State Motor Park Disciplinary Committee.

In an interview with journalists, the newly appointed Chairman, Oyo State Motor Park Disciplinary Committee, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi pledged commitment in line with the present administration to promote peace in the state
