Radio Nigeria ace reporter, Mosope Kehinde has bagged a Humanitarian Impact Award from an Ibadan based non-governmental Organisation, Hope for Second Chance Foundation, HOSEC.

The award which was presented at a ceremony held at ‘Wole Soyinka Art Theatre, University of Ibadan to mark the 5th anniversary of the foundation drew excitement from the multi-talented journalist, Mosope, his wife, Tosin, colleagues and associates as well as the entire congregation as he mounted the podium to receive the award plaque 

Mosope Kehinde, a Principal Reporter and Radio Nigeria Ibadan House of Assembly Correspondent, according to the organisers of the award, the awardee distinguished himself in the reportage of advocacy and pursuit of justice and equality for the vulnerable in the society.

In a remark, shortly after recieving the award, Mosope Kehinde expressed delight at the award, saying the gesture would serve as morale booster in his journalistic career.

“This is going to encourage me and it will go along way in helping me to know that it’s important for people to do more to their society. By the grace of God, I will be doing more in the profession that God has placed me, to impact humanity and the society “

In a reaction, Manager News, Premier FM, Ibadan, Mrs. Olutola Daramola extolled the virtues of Mosope Kehinde, describing him as a highly cerebral journalist and a goal getter.

“It’s very cheering because Mosope Kehinde is a very diligent officer, he’s forward looking, a team player and goal oriented. So am not surprised that such an award is coming his way.i can only say that this strength will continue and it’s also a platform for Radio Nigeria to be projected, particularly premier FM, all what he’s been doing in terms of reportage for hope of second chance foundation, HOSEC has been recognised and I wish him many more in the future “

On his part, chairman on the occasion and lawmaker representing Akinyẹle constituency II at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ayo Fatokun, enjoined National and State House of Assemblies to formulate laws that would strengthen and encourage non-governmental Organisations that are corroborating government’s efforts at rehabilitating the vulnerable in the society a meaningful boost for effective service delivery.

Earlier in an address, Founder and Executive Director, HOSEC, Ibukunoluwa Otesile described the five years journey of rehabilitating the vulnerable children and women being victims of domestic violence and drug abuse in the society as emotionally draining and rewarding job.

He called for collaborative efforts from stakeholders to ensure total and complete rehabilitation of victims of abuse in Nigeria.

Education

One of the best measures for addressing insecurity in Nigeria is to give educational support to children from less privileged homes.

This was the submission of the Executive Director, Child Development and Concern Foundation, CDCF, Alhaji Iskil Yussuf at the 9th annual books presentation and award conferment of the foundation.

Alhaji Yussuf lamented the increasing number of out of school children, which he believed had led to the high rate of crimes in society.

Alhaji Yussuf said the desire to address the menace of out of school children, the Child Development and Concern Foundation had been giving educational support to indigent school children through payment of tuition fees, provisions of books and other necessary educational materials.

Chairman on the occasion, Alhaji Musiliu Adeleke called on the nation’s leaders to prioritize education to achieve a secured and developed society.

In their goodwill messages, Stakeholders at the event urged the indigent children to focus on their education to justify the investment on them.

The highlight of the programme was the symbolic presentation of textbooks and exercise books to some of the school children.

No fewer than fifty nine eminent Nigerians including  The Diocesan Bishop and Archbishop of Ibadan Province, The Most Reverend Dr Segun Okubadejo and the Ondo state governor have been honoured with different awards for their immense  contributions to the growth and development of the Diocese of Ibadan North  Anglican church.

The event which marked the 8th Diocesan Gleaners’ Harvest Thanksgiving service was held at the Cathedral of Saint Peters, Aremo, Ibadan.

Addressing the congregation, The Diocesan Bishop and Archbishop of Ibadan Province, The Most Reverend Dr Segun Okubadejo commended the awardees for their selfless service to humanity and the church.

The Most Reverend Dr Okubadejo urged christians to continue to pray for peace and security in Nigeria.

The Retired Bishop of Ijesha North Diiocese , The Most Reverend Dr Titus  Fajemirokun said christians must imbibe the habit of appreciating God whom he said his the source of human wealth.

Some of the award recipients including a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Akin Olujinmi, Chief  Olugnemiga Aborissade,  Ayotunde Fagbemi and wife of the former  Director of News, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Mrs Iyabo Afolabi said christians should give to the expansion of God’s kingdom without wavering.

The Federal Government of Nigeria on 30th September, 2021 gave an award to the University College Hospital, Ibadan as the best public health Institution in Nigeria.

The award ceremony which was held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa Abuja was part of the activities marking the end of the 60th anniversary of Nigeria’s Independence and ushering in the 61st anniversary.

The ceremony was witnessed by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Muhammad Buhari, GCFR, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, the President of the Senate, Dr. Ahmed Lawan, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, Honourable Minister of State for Health, Dr. Olorunnimbe Mamora, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, among other Ministers that attended the ceremony.

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar were also in attendance.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha presented the award of the best Public Heal th Institution in Nigeria to the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
