The Investigative Committee set up to look into the leadership crisis rocking the Ila Orangun College of Education has reversed the suspension of the college’s Provost, Professor Jimoh Afolabi and ordered status quo ante pending the outcome of the investigation.

At its meeting chaired by the Committee Chairman who is also the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, both the Governing Council and the College management were directed to revert to the state of affairs before the crisis.

The committee also instructed the Provost and the Governing Council Chairman, Peter Babalola to avoid further escalation of the matter through media or litigation.

Alhaji Akinleye reminded the principal officers of the college’s enabling law,  the public service financial regulations and the oath of office they took upon their appointments.

“We also don’t want the crisis to paralyze the school. Any protracted leadership crisis can disrupt academic activities and even the peace of the Ila Orangun community.

The Committee Chairman noted that it will ensure the protection of public funds as it has made recommendations to prevent any future re-occurrence of such confrontation.

Osun state government has decided to upgrade the Osun state college of education, Ilesa to a full fledged university.

The state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola announced this in Ilesa while commissioning a project.

Governor Oyetola informed that a consultant had been engaged to work out sustainable plan for the project.

Governor Kayode Fayemi, has expressed his condolences on the death of former Chairman, Ekiti State SUBEB and currently Special Adviser on Basic Education, Professor Francisca Aladejana.

Professor Aladejana slumped yesterday in her office while making a phone call and died instantly.

The deceased was the Provost of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti during the first tenure of the Fayemi-led administration.

Dr. Fayemi said he received the news of the death of the eminent scholar with rude shock and a deep sense of loss.

The governor described the death of Professor Aladejana as a great loss to the academia, education sector and to the government as well as the good people of Ekiti State, who she served meritoriously in different capacities.

Dr. Fayemi credited the deceased with the thorough supervision of reforms and repositioning of the College of Education during her tenure first as Sole Administrator and later as Provost the then College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti.

He described the late professor as a committed and patriotic educationist and scholar whose impact in basic education was quite remarkable.

The governor said although the state mourns her death but the pain of the loss is mitigated by Professor Aladejana’s positive contributions to the development of the state in various capacities she served in her lifetime.

He commiserated with the family, friends and associates of the deceased, urging them to be consoled by the legacies of selfless service and integrity Professor Aladejana left behind.

If stakeholders do the needful, education sector would not remain the same again.

This is the submission of the Chairman, House Committee on Education Mr. Babatunde Ibirogba during visit to Osun State College of Education Ila Orangun and Osun State Polytechnic Iree.

Mr. Ibirogba said all stakeholders should be proactive and contribute their quota to the development of Education sector to make it functional.

He promised that the House of Assembly would look into the challenges facing the schools while assuring proper funding of Tertiary institutions in the state.

Other members of the committee advised the institutions to make entrepreneurial skills as a course of study to solve unemployment problems among graduates.

Meanwhile, in their response, the Provost College of Education, Ila Orangun Professor Issac Oyewole and Rector, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Dr. Olawoye Olaniran solicited the support of the Legislature in filling various vacancy posts in the institutions.
