The Local Organizing Committee for the 2022 National Sports Festival, NSF, scheduled to hold in Delta State, has pledged speedy completion all sporting infrastructure in Asaba and environs where the games will be hosted.

This was made known in Asaba, the state capital during an inspection of facilities earmarked for the hosting of the event.

The leader of the assessment team, Chief Solomon Ogba, stated there would be a renovation of the hostels and the perfection of electrical and water systems at designated camps where the participating athletes from across the nation would be accommodated.

Chief Ogba listed other measures adopted for the games to include the provision of makeshift toilets for spectators.

Other delegates in the inspection team include the former Director General, Delta State Sports Commission, Chief Victor Onogagamue and the current DG, Mr Chris Anazia.

The locations visited during the tour include: The Tennis Club and facilities at St. Bridget’s College, both in Asaba and sporting venues at Ogwashi-Uku Polytechnic in Ogwashi-Uku.

It would be recalled that Delta State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has promised that the 21st National Sports Festival which will hold between November 2 and 15, 2022, will be an event that will make every participant, including athletes, coaches, accompanying officials and journalists proud of the state at its conclusion.

The Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has commended the Federal Government for the equitable selection of beneficiaries for the Special Public Works Programme and the launch of the initiative tagged 774,000 Jobs.

Governor Okowa stated this at the Official Flag off of the ESPW Scheme at the Federal Secretariat in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa says his administration has renovated the High Court Complex in Asaba, which was torched during the EndSARS protest in parts of the nation, in addition to other projects to enhance the process of jurisprudence in the state.

Governor Okowa stated this during a Special Thanksgiving Mass at the Emmanuel The Savior Catholic Church in Asaba, to celebrate the beginning of the 2020/2021 Legal Year in the state.

Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa says the game of football could became a huge source of revenue for the nation, if the governments and the private sector collaborate to maximize the nation’s potentials in the game.

Governor Okowa stated at the 1st Delta State Football Summit held in Asaba the state capital with the theme: Football as a Tool for Peace and Development and Life after Football.

Madam Peace Anyiam-Osigwe has been voted National President of the Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria AMP, at an election held in Asaba, Delta State.

Anyiam-Osigwe polled 167 votes to defeat her opponent, Mr Michael Parish who polled 3 votes. 

In other results, Queen Blessing Ebigieson emerged victorious for the post of Vice President polling 165 votes to defeat Miss Rose Okwoli who polled four votes.

Mrs Anyiam-Osigwe, succeeds the immediate past president, Mr Ralph Nwadike, who had successfully completed his two term of four years.

Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who declared the occasion open, lauded the association for sustaining the movie and entertainment industry with little or no support from the government.

The governor who was represented by the Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr Lawrence Ejiofor, noted the state government was building a film village to provide a permanent a home for the industry, stressing the project will be completed in February 2021.

Meanwhile, the immediate past president of the association, Mr. Ralph Nwadike, called for support from all members to enable the new executives deliver on its agenda.

In a speech, the newly elected President of the Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria, Mrs Anyiam-Osigwe, appreciated the association for electing her and pledged to deepen the achievements attained in the movie and entertainment industry.

Other elected executives are the General Secretary, Mr Baba Agba; and Mr Anthony Chukwuma who won the post of Financial Secretary.

The others are Mr Nzeh Frankwyt as Publicity Secretary, and Mr Vitus Nnebu as Provost.
