Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has flagged off the free enrollment of inmates in correctional centres across the state into the Osun Health Insurance Scheme, OHIS.

While officially declaring the enrollment of inmates into OHIS open at the Ilesa Correctional Centre, the Governor explained that his administration’s drive was to make healthcare accessible to all residents without discrimination and to extend the dividends of democracy to every segment of the societies.

Governor Adeleke said the initiative was in response to an appeal made by the Controller of Correctional Service in Osun State, Mr. Olalekan Oluwadele, during a recent visit to the Government House.

He described inmates as bonafide citizens who deserve quality healthcare and welfare support, adding that his government would not discriminate based on status, religion, gender, or political affiliation.

In his remarks, the State Controller of Corrections Service, Mr. Olalekan Oluwadele, commended Governor Adeleke for his unwavering support to the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, for his approval to enroll 1,200 inmates into Osun Health Insurance Scheme, OHIS.

Mr. Oluwadele also lauded the Governor for past interventions, including granting amnesty to 53 inmates, renovating operational vehicles, and showing solidarity after the escape of seven inmates in May 2025.

He acknowledged reforms introduced by the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Ministry of Interior, particularly the increase of daily feeding allowance for inmates to N1,125.

Mr. Oluwadele appealed to the state government for more support to strengthen security and improve facilities, including the installation of barbwire and CCTV cameras, provision of solar power, food supplies during festive seasons, tools for skilled inmates, and Independence Day amnesty.

He assured that the Nigerian Correctional Service remains committed to reform and rehabilitation in Osun State.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the Osun Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Muyiwa Oladimeji, and the Executive Secretary, Dr. Rasak Akindele commended the Governor’s commitment to inclusive healthcare, noting that his administration has taken deliberate steps to ensure that vulnerable groups are not left behind.

Osun State Governor says it will not tolerate attempt to deny the state and its people their rightful share in the mining sector.

Governor Adeleke stated this at the Solid Minerals Stakeholders, workshop with the theme, Enhanced Internally Generated Revenue and Sustainable Environmental, Friendly Mining in Osun State, at Aisu Ede, Osun State.

The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye said his government’s mining reforms are not about targeting any particular group but ensuring that the rights of all stakeholders, including businesses, host communities, and the state government are respected.

“Our main preoccupation is to block any exploitation and cheating of our people,” he said. We desire that our people and state should feel the impact of their God-given resources.”

While reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ensuring fair practices in the state’s mining sector, Governor Adeleke emphasized the need for clearer boundaries between state and federal responsibilities to address complications in the sector just as he commends the regulatory coordination by the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals.

In a paper presentation on “Devastating Effects of Illegal Mining” a Professor of Geology, University of Ibadan, Adeniyi Gbadegesin explained that though mining of mineral resources has contributed to National GDP, however, it has led to deforestation, contaminated water and environment which affects human and animal habitat.

Professor Gbadegesin urged the federal government to make policies to regulate mining activities especially by the illegal Miners.

In his remark, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Mining and Mineral Matters, Professor Lukman Adekilekun-Jimoda explained that the workshop aims to form a synergy between state government and stakeholders in the mining in order to increase the state Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, and ensure Sustainable Environment.

Professor Adekilekun-Jimoda said the government has taken proactive steps to strengthen Osun’s position within mining sector through hard but equitable policy actions.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has disowned a flier purportedly from the Office of one of his wives, Mrs Ngozi Adeleke, welcoming Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu to the state

Senator Adeleke who described the flier purportedly from Mrs Ngozi Adeleke as fake said there was no conflict over who among his two wives would host the First Lady, who is billed to visit Osun State today to turn the sod of the Alternative High School for Girls at Oke D.O, Ilesha Road, Osogbo.

Making clarification on the matter in a statement in Osogbo, spokesperson for the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed said Mrs Titilola Adeleke is the First Lady and would receive Mrs Tinubu during the visit.

It notes that, Mrs Ngozi Adeleke did not authorise the flier, as the material was manufactured and shared by elements who wanted to sow discord and create an atmosphere of confusion.

The statement adds that the person behind it has been arrested.

Osun state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says Governor Seyi Makinde’s record in provision of infrastructure in Oyo state is worthy of emulation.

He stated this during a courtesy visit on Governor Makinde at the Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan. 

The Osun State Governor, who just ended a working vacation in Thailand said that his government has also embarked on infrastructural projects as Governor Makinde.

Speaking on the visit, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, hinted that, they deliberated on progress of both states as well as the affairs of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the Southwest.

Governor Makinde declared that contrary to speculations in the media, he and Adeleke, who he described as brother have aligned ahead of the peace talk within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the south west.

The governor revealed that he would embark on working vacation in February 2024.

Osun State Government wants Journalists to uphold the profession’s ethics by making Political officeholders in all levels of governance accountable for their leadership.

The State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke made the call while declaring the 2023 Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ Press week opening ceremony with the theme: “Nigeria at 63 the journey so far “, held at the Press Centre Technical College Area, Osogbo.

The Governor represented by the State Commissioner for Information, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi noted that there is the need to drum it into the ears of the national leaders in the State of Nigeria @ 63.

Governor Adeleke who said the programme was apt, noted that the importance of the Event could not be emphasized hence the need to organize events of such at regular intervals.

He expressed his Commitment towards prioritizing on welfare of workers, pensioners, artisans and other residents of the state.

Earlier in his Royal message, The Orangun of Oke-ila, Oba Doctor Adedokun Abolarin who urged Media Practitioners to perform their duties in line with international best practices called on all and sundry to ensure that the interest of the Nation’s Development remains paramount above personal interest.

In an interview with Newsmen, the Host, Chairman Osun NUJ, Mr Wasiu Ajadosu said the event was organised to proffer solutions to problems affecting the nation since independence as regards infrastructural decay, quality Education, inadequate power supply, high-level unemployment hence it became imperative to review the 1999 constitution to guarantee good governance for Nigerians.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of the award to the state Chairman of PDP, Mr. Sunday Bisi who was bestowed a meritorious award of excellence of “Grass-root politician of the Year”.

The Osun State government has charged Muslim Rights Organisation (MURIC) not to use religion to cause division in the State, affirming that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s appointments of commissioners and permanent secretaries are based on merit and competency.

In a statement, the State government noted that ever since assuming office, Governor Adeleke has premised his governance decisions on competency and commitment to State duty of appointees in his avowed commitment to deliver on good governance and correct inherited ills from previous administration.

The Governor’s first appointees in government were appointed not by religion but merit, competency and conformation with his style of leadership, stressing that same principle of meritocracy which produced the nominated commissioners was applied in the appointments of permanent secretaries who are accounting officers of the ministries.

The statement notes that no agent of destabilization masquerading as a religious body can deploy religion as a partisan tool to divide and distract governance.

The statement added that Osun State is an enlightened society with deep records of religious harmony and close understanding of the Governor as a leader who has never pander to religious bigotry, ethnic partisanship and unmerited decision making.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has reiterated his commitment to ensuring better welfare for civil servants.

Governor Adeleke stated this while addressing the workers at a victory celebration organised by the Joint Labour Movement and the Office of Head of Service for the Governor after he was affirmed by the Supreme Court as the elected Governor of Osun, at the State Secretariat, Abere, Osun State.

The workers, who trooped out in large numbers, could not hide their joy dancing and jubilating over the Supreme Court judgment, welcomed the Governor at the main entrance of the Secretariat and led the Governor’s convoy to the Bola Ige House, the office of the Governor.

Addressing the workers, Governor Ademola Adeleke commended the workers for their show of love towards him, stressing that he would not relent in ensuring better welfare for civil servants both serving and retired.

He urged the civil servants to be committed and rededicate themselves to service and collaborate with his government in order to make Osun State great.

In separate remarks, the Chairman, Nigerian Civil Service Union, NSCU, Mr. Christopher Arapasopo, and Deputy President National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade Iyabo Olanrewaju said the workers were happy with the verdict of the Supreme Court, describing Governor Adeleke as worker-friendly Governor.

Also speaking, the Caretaker Chairman, Osun State Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Modupeola Oyedele said the workers came out for the victory celebration to thank God for the Governor’s victory at the Supreme Court.

Comrade Oyedele advised the workers to continue to support the present administration for good development in the state.

The Osun State Government says there is no plan to demote workers or plan to pay half of the salaries to state workers.

 In a statement signed by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the government described as falsehood and wicked fabrication, the fake news about the demotion of workers and alleged plan to pay half salaries.

The statement indicates that the fake news was fabricated to undermine the strong bond between Governor Adeleke and Osun workers, both in the formal and informal sectors.

It states that Governor Adeleke, since assumption of office, has since been working round the clock to restore public confidence in government, bridge the infrastructural gap, clear backlogs of salaries owed to workers, rebuild the public service, sanitize public finance, and digitalize Osun economy.

The Government, therefore, urges members of the public to ignore the fake news about the demotion of workers and the re-introduction of half salaries.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke says his administration will not relent in ensuring a better life for the people of the state.

Governor Adeleke stated the inauguration of an ultra-modern medical centre in Ifewara, Atakumosa West Local Government Area of Osun, donated by the Jennifer Etuh Foundation.

While appreciating the foundation for building the health facility in the state, the Governor said his government takes priority in the welfare of the people of the state.

He said since he became Governor, he started the “Imole Free Surgical and Medical Outreach” where 25,000 residents of the state have benefited from various medical and surgical treatments.

The Governor called on well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the act of helping the less privileged in the society in order to make life easier for others.

In his remark, the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye thanked Mr. Etuh and the foundation for citing the medical centre in his home town.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has urged the civil servants to be efficient in their duties.

Governor Adeleke made the call while addressing the workers at the solidarity walk for his victory at the Appeal Court organised by the Nigeria Civil Service Union at the State Secretariat, Abere, Osun State.

The Governor, who commended the workers for their show of love towards him, said he would not relent in ensuring better welfare for civil servants both serving and retired.

He called for continued collaboration of the workforce with his government in order to fulfil all his campaign promises to the people of Osun State.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, Chairman, Nigeria Civil Service Union, NSCU, Mr. Christopher Arapasopo explained that the workers embarked on the solidarity walk to appreciate the governor for his kind gestures towards the workers in the state.

Mr. Arapasopo advised the workers to continue to support the present administration for good development in the state.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Osun State Trade Union Congress, Mr. Adekola Adebowale said the workers came out in solidarity to thank God for the Governor’s victory at the Appeal Court.

The workers, after receiving the Governor at the main entrance of the Secretariat, led the convoy of the Governor to the Bola Ige house, the office of the governor, dancing.

Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has called on residents of the state to remain peaceful and avoid political violence in the countdown to the March 11th House of Assembly election. 

Addressing stakeholders and leaders of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, at his residence, Governor Adeleke commended the support for the party in last Saturday’s election, urging all political parties to continue to maintain the peace as democracy is about making choices at the polls.

In a statement by Spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor specifically warned against incitement, political violence and any other conduct that may breach the peace the state is currently enjoying. 

Commenting on last Saturday’s election, Governor Adeleke said there is no winner, no vanquished, calling on voters to prepare again to perform their civic responsibility come March 11.

He noted that Osun people and Nigerians have voted and have made their choices, and leaders have emerged, advising the winners to serve the best interest of the voting public.

The Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke urges the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to sanction financial institutions involved in the hoarding of new naira notes.

Addressing CBN officials in his office, Governor Adeleke decried the increasing shortage of the new notes, explaining that, he has been deploying state networks to douse tension and ensure the safety of banks and the CBN state office.

The Governor said his intervention in the last few weeks had ensured that Osun state is saved from increasing conflict across some South Western states.

He however expressed displeasure over the current hardship citizens are facing, adding that, his government was ready to partner with the CBN for the currency swap.

Governor Adeleke advised CBN to act fast as the situation is getting out of hand, informing the team that, the state is sacrificing a lot to maintain peace.

Responding, the CBN state Director, Mrs Oluyemi Adeyemi commended the Governor for his proactive steps that have saved the state from naira-related riots.

Mrs Adeyemi said the apex bank is working effortlessly, to make the new notes available and has issued queries to some commercial banks who hoarded the new naira notes.

The meeting set up a monitoring mechanism between the state government and the CBN to ensure allocated new notes get to the populace.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke is not celebrating Valentine’s Day as wrongly and falsely published in some media platforms and blogs.

A statement by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, says Valentine’s Day event, an annual gathering that has been on for the past four years is organised by the Osun State Civil Service Union in collaboration with the Office of the Head of Service.

The statement indicates that the event was annually celebrated under the previous administration and as such the Civil Service Union is only continuing a tradition that predates the Administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

It says the Union invites Governor Adeleke as a Special Guest of Honor in appreciation of his landmark support and attention to the welfare and aspirations of workers in the state.

“The invitation was earned and merited based on Governor Adeleke’s bold action that has resolved the half salary debacle in the state bureaucracy and his commendable initiatives to tackle pension and deductions issues within the state civil service”.

The statement describes the report as unfair and prejudice to publish that the Governor is organizing a Valentine’s Day programme.

Osun State Government has warned against the diversion of Petrol, PMS, by some Oil marketers, warning that anyone caught to be hoarding fuel allocated to the state will face the wrath of the law.

The Chairman of the Petroleum Monitoring Committee of the state, Mr Kazeem Akinleye in a statement by Governor’s Spokesperson Mallam Rasheed Olawale noted that findings from the relevant agencies revealed that Osun state was allocated several tankers of PMS which are not reflected across filling stations in the state, an indication that diversion may have been happening.

Mr Akinleye, who is also the Chief of Staff to the Governor said the PMS Monitoring committee has contacted the relevant authorities and is aware of the actual PMS allocated to Osun state including the actual list of companies and stations, allocated those PMS.

He assured members of the public that the committee started its job by getting to the root of actual PMS allocation to the state, informing the public that the monitoring activities will expose those behind the current untold hardship being inflicted on the good people of Osun State.

As the nation prepares for next month general elections, the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has urged politicians to embrace peaceful electioneering strategies.

Governor Adeleke stated this while receiving leaders from Osun state who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Osogbo.

He says, in a statement by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, condemned the increasingly disruptive nature of campaigns in some areas of the state, particularly the vandalization of billboards and posters.

While calling on politicians and their supporters to remain peaceful, Governor Adeleke urged them to imbibe the culture of a harmonious campaign devoid of thuggery and untoward activities.

“Election is not and should not be taken as war”. An election is about the people exercising their voting rights. Our jobs as political leaders are to market our programmes and candidates, to convince voters to accept us. It is out of order to propagate and employ violence as an electioneering tool”.

“I particularly condemn the increasing vandalization of campaign posters and billboards ahead of the elections. I was a victim during the last governorship election. Politicians should know that the people are the ultimate decider of their leaders”. 

The Governor directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute anybody caught destroying candidates’ billboards and posters irrespective of party affiliations, which he said would restore sanity, law and order in the electoral process.

The people of Iree in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State have protested what they call the politicization of the selection of a new king for the community.

The people in their hundreds carried placards with various inscriptions.

Led by the Asiwaju of Iree town, Chief Adenrele Afolabi, they gathered in front of the palace of Aree of Iree where they maintained that the selection of a king was the prerogative of the Kingmakers (Iwarefa mefa) and not that of the warrant chiefs appointed by the management of Boripe North Local Council Development Authority.

Presenting the address, the Asiwaju of Iree, Chief Afolabi commended the new Osun State administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke for suspending the previous process.

“The entire Iree Community is highly delighted at the prompt response of the new administration in righting the wrong done to Iree people by the Government of yesterday. It is apparent that Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has a listening ear and a working big heart. We, therefore, appreciate the steps so far taken by his administration.”

The community also regretted the unnecessary crisis that led to the setting ablaze a part of the Aree palace, saying such was to paint the peace-loving Community as one of crisis.

Also speaking, the President of Iree Progressives Association, Mr Oluwole Taiwo said the Community had submitted its position on the matter to the committee set up by the State Government, expressing confidence that justice would be served in the matter.

Mr Taiwo appealed to the Kingmakers to hasten the process of selecting a new monarch devoid of rancour for Iree Community once the state government gives the goal ahead.

Recall that Governor Ademola Adeleke had suspended three monarchs in Osun State appointed after July 17th while he directed the closure of their palaces and ordered police to take over them.

The affected monarchs included Aree of Ire, Akirun of Ikirun and Owa of Igbajo.

Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has promised to sustain the harmonious relationship between the Executive and the Legislature to move the State forward. 

Senator Adeleke gave the Assurance during his first official visit to the State House of Assembly in Osogbo. 

The Governor at the plenary of the Assembly stated that since Government is a continuum, his administration would not abandon any of the projects embarked on by the previous administration of the State.

While nothing that that election had come and gone, Senator Adeleke said all efforts would be geared towards good governance. 

Senator Adeleke, who assured that Osun State would become a reference point for other states across the Nation appealed for the support of all. 

Earlier in a remark, the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Timothy Owoeye noted that the Parliament would continue to support the government stressing, they might only disagree with the Executive based on facts of the law. 

Right Honorable Owoeye explained that the Legislative and Executive arm must strengthen its communication channels so as to communicate effectively, devoid of fake news and rumour mongering.

He added that the legislature world over is a sacred and respectful institution and as such, the opinions and resolutions of the arm are pivotal in every matter of state.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke today joined other worshipers at Osogbo Central Mosque to the admiration of all and sundry to perform the Jumat Prayer for the first time as Executive Governor of the state.

 Addressing the congregation, Governor Adeleke said this was to fulfil his pledge that if he emerged victorious in the poll and was sworn in, he would observe the first Jumat Prayer in the mosque in appreciation of the spiritual and political support.

He assured the congregants that he remained resolute in fulfilling all his electioneering promises, calling for more support to enable him to succeed in making life better for the citizenry.

Governor Adeleke commended the Ataoja of Osogboland, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, who was also at the service for his unflinching support which nearly pitched him against the past government.

In response, the Ataoja of Osogboland, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun appreciated the Governor for his love for Osogbo, assuring the governor of total support of all Osogbo Indigenes at home and Diaspora in the bid to transform Osogbo and Osun State in general.

Earlier in his sermon drawn from Quran chapter 42 verse 43, the Chief Imam of Osogboland, Sheikh Musa Animasahun called on the governor to forgive whoever offended him, having been patient during the days of struggles as a gubernatorial aspirant.

The Chief Imam who lauded the governor and charged him to hold firmly to the tenets of Islam said he would be among creatures that would be blessed by Allah.

The Governor, who paid an unscheduled homage to the Ataoja, was accompanied by a cheering crowd from the mosque to the palace, where the Ataoja ìn council welcomed the Governor.

Osun State Government has directed former appointed officials to return government properties in their possession within 48 hours.

The directive was a sequel to the large-scale diversion of government assets by top officials of the immediate past administration, as several official vehicles are missing while official records indicated that two third of former state officials left with a fleet of cars in their office. 

A statement by the Spokesperson of the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed notes that most Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) were stripped of operational assets like vehicles, computers and residential fittings.

It discloses that the residences of some top officials were equally pillaged even to lamp fittings. 

The statement adds that Any former official who refuses to comply with the directive will face the full weight of the law.
